Well I cant say he got it all wrong... :ehh:

:salute:

:ahh:

In the 90s CNN made a 24 part/hour documentary about the Cold War

Its funny how all things withstanding communism just failed on so many levels, without touching the whole foreign overthrow topic.

Odds you've watched more than ~5 minutes of this documentary are shockingly low:mjlol:

In honor of MLK day here's some good MLK themed content:

On the separate images of King in modern life Restoring King | Jacobin

Good analysis of King's politics here The legacy of Martin Luther King

On the radicalism of the March on Washington The Forgotten Radical History of the March on Washington | Dissent Magazine

Few great clips of King in this thread of tweets

Here's MLK on Socialist Party leader Norman Thomas "The Bravest Man I Ever Met" "The Bravest Man I Ever Met" by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr (1965) | War Is A Crime .org and a letter to his wife in which he briefly touches upon Marx, Socialism, Communism, and Religion To Coretta Scott

Can we distinguish between actually communism and communism co-opted by totalitarianism?

The likes of Stalin and Mao just used the communism political theory as a means to ends not ends to means

I agree, but I think it is important to study those regimes and time periods carefully to take lessons from them, and not get as caught up in Guy A manipulated this and Guy B did that. I think that the Cultural Revolution in China, for example, is fascinating for many reasons. One reason is that it wasn't a centrally controlled or directed process, and Mao encouraged the masses to question and challenge the Party. Part of that was probably his personal political conflicts and maneuverings, but it was something very different from what was seen in the Soviet Union, or even in contemporary China.
