Agreed, I was just touching on the point krack brought up, that the Cuban boxing school was initially the Russian system. Obviously after all these years, the styles has evolved and separated.

Yea breaking it down by region is hard as hell, because you have someone like Trout who's from New Mexico, and fights like a Florida guy.

One thing that hasn't gotten enough attention I feel is that a lot of black fighters now seem to be adopting not only the slick/defensive/counter punch style of Mayweather BUT ALSO his approach to the game- $ before legacy/greatness. It breaks my heart :to:

(and I'm not trynna change the direction of this thread to a Mayweather or pacquiao bashing/stanning convo fyi.)

And in an attempt to bring it back to Kovalev-Ward, I gotta say I'm shocked at just how much of ya favor Wards Super Six accomplishments in lieu of Kovalev's current dominance of the light heavyweight division, which hes done with not only power but boxing skills and ring generalship.

Quickly on point A--Before Floyd fought JMM aka the second half of his career he was already a HOF'er in my eyes, with a legacy. His 2nd half of his career he maximized while cementing his legacy IMO.

Point B--I agree that Kovalev has some very good boxing skills and ring generalship. His footwork, and ability to set traps/lure fighters in are A level. He also does well on the move, and can apply pressure without using all of his energy. However, everything with the exception of power, I think Ward is better at than Kov. Kov's best chance is getting inside and firing off uppercuts until he lands, as that is Ward's kryptonite. I think it would be wise on Kov's part to jab at Ward's right shoulder. He's clearly been gunshy with the right hand since he really returned. I think if he experienced some serious discomfort, especially in his shoulder, it would throw him off his game.

Moreso than anything though, fights are fought in the ring and not on paper. It's not out of the realm at all for kkkov to win, I just don't see it happening :yeshrug:

Bro, my natural inclination was to argue point A. Like, go in. But alas I decided I'ma give it to ya man. You got that.

Point B, I hate that the only advantage ppl give Kovalev is power. I think he has a better right hand and has better effective aggressiveness. Consummate predator at work.

am I reaching if I say the Russian and Ukranian styles are also different?

just think about Wladimir Klitschko, Postol, Usyk, Senchenko and Loma vs Povetkin, Beterbiev, Golovkin (not Russian but that school), Lebedev and Troyanovski

of course there are exceptions there too especially that they are neighbors but overall, generally...

Agree except Kovalev's chances on the inside

His best chance if he can keep the fight in his preferred distance which is middle distance while he can make Ward move back...

if he fight on the inside he is done fukked cause he showed nothing so far which would imply that he even got inside fight skills especially not that he could beat one of the best inside fighters on the inside

Manny wouldn't be shyt without roach:yeshrug:

Freddie ain't the best trainer in the world imo but he took a club fighter and made him top 20 of all time:yeshrug:

I'm not disputing the fact that he's a good coach but Manny was a natural talent that just needed a couple refining pieces taken care of. Manny would have been fine with someone like Teddy Atlas
(although a horrible personality fit)

But this whole miracle worker or that he has it's just ridiculous I mean guys clearly aren't learning defensive or lateral movement coming to his school I mean you compare him to the Mayweather Sr. Or Roger or Virgil Hunter and it's no comparison. His current track record reeks of mediocrity.

Promo released, #thering:wow:

Main Events and their low budget, sloppy promo... :snoop:
I've seen a couple of easily better unofficial fa made promos than this thing.
and RN won't do shyt to promote this ether...

We just gonna have to wait for the normal HBO promo for this, they know how to hype even mediocre fights.
