Just watched it again and had the same card as last night...
The rounds I gave Ward...
Round 3 - Wasn't sure about this one last night but after re-watching the fight I really don't understand how anyone can give this round to Kovalev...His best offense in the round was a four punch flury near the two minute mark that was mostly blocked...Best punch of the round was CLEARLY a left hook by Andre Ward towards the end of the round...That fool Lampley even said it...Ward also landed several lead jabs that visibly snapped Kovalev's head back and couple nice jabs to his body...This was CLEARLY a Ward round...
Round 5 - Ward settled down and really got his timing down in this rounds, was beating Kovalev to the punch...
Round 7 - Ward masterful with the jab, hooks to the body and started to land the right hand in this round...
Round 8 - VERY close round...I gave to Ward because he dictated the action, all Kovalev did was follow him and land a few nice jabs...Best punch of the round was a thudding right hook to the body by Ward to close it...
Round 9 - More Ward dominating with jabs to head and body using feints...Roy even points out the body work Ward put in is now beginning to show on Kovalev...His punches have less velocity on them and not landing cleanly...Best punch of the round was a right cross by Ward...
Round 11 - Max put it best imo, Ward landed the cleaner bigger punches in this round...Both were effective with the jab and Kovalev got some crisp overhands in...Ward had the best punches of the round though, both were left hooks the one towards the 50 second mark which he doubled up on sealed the round for him...Kovalev showed off his chin taking those shots...
Round 12 - Sluggish round, both guys clinching and pushing but Ward again with the clearner bigger punches in the round...Starts it off with a big left hook and landed several more of them throughout...Kovalev did have a big body shot in the round that Roy said hurt...
