the fight was close, and i had ward winning it- but kov faded due to the body punches. he started strong, but once ward got dropped- he understood he would have to take the fight to kov. kov kinda looked like a dude who was just hoping to land the big shot as the fight went on. ward was attacking more, and virgil hunter really helped ward win it with his advice- keeping him positive and knowing it's not over, kov trainer jackson- really didn't give no advice to help kov weather the storm as dre applied more pressure.

i think it's weak to bytch about a robbery when you only landed 10 more punches while throwing over 100 more, and your opponent landed a higher percentage. defense also counts and kov whiffed on a lot of punches going past the 3rd round. the fight from there on, the ring generalship was won by ward. kov stopped fighting his normal style and while ward went into his while being more aggressive.

lederman should be ashamed of his card and they need to stop letting him sway the audience like that. i'm glad max was there to balance the objectivity. skysports is way more knowledgable and unbiased. roy and max were good, lampley was pathetic with the dikklicking. i would love a rematch, but i think ward would win it easier, it was clear that kov was the bigger man though. excellent and props to both. stevenson could have been had this fight and the glory by beating kov earlier.

I just rewatched the fight.....

I can totally see how Ward won the fight. I think when watching live you can get caught up in the emotion but Ward really completely turned the fight around in round 5.

Could have gone either way tho. Originally I had round 10 scored for Kovalev and can completely see how Ward got it.

Do you know what a robbery is bruh? :dahell:

If the difference between your card and the result of the fight is two rounds it is not a robbery...

That's what we call a close fight that could of gone either way...

You can't tell me with a straight face all 7 of those rounds you gave to KKK weren't close...

The 7 rounds I gave Kovalev weren't close imo. To be even more honest, the majority of the rounds I gave Ward were closer than the rounds I gave Kovalev. I found myself saying at times about the rounds that I gave Ward that though it was close if there was a round to give Ward, this would be it. But I have it a robbery because in no way shape or form do I feel Ward won. Even a draw would have surprised me.

Watched the fight, and outside of the two swing rounds of 3 and 5 this was a pretty easy fight to score after round 7. Dre won the fight by boxing cleanly out of clinches mostly initiated by Kov, and DEFENSE! Slipping and parrying punches also affect round scorng brehs. Dre fough a beautiful fight from round six on and earn it.

Kov didn't do to bad either, but at best earned a 114-113 nod if given both rounds 3&5.

But don't fighters camps get to have input in who the judges are and approve or deny judges up to a point like a lawyer does with a jury...at least that is what I believe Dan has said in his chats in the past...

Final thoughts on tonight's fights...

-Claressa Shields and her opponent fought their asses off tonight and I can't wait to see either one fight again :obama:
-Curtis Stevens-De La Rosa... while I don't think the wrong fighter got the decision, those scores were incomprehensible :mindblown:
-Chilemba is damn near Campillo status :lupe:
-Osh Gosh (However you spell the Russian's name) fought well tonight. I agree with Roy, needs a couple more good fights before he's thrown to the lions
-Hooker-Perez seemed more of a robbery than anything else tonight. Not sure I want to see it again, but Hooker is :francis:
-That 2nd round knockdown was :damn:
-Hats off to SOG for weathering the storm and driving through it. 114-113 is not a bad decision. Nor would a UD Kovalev's favor have been :ehh:
-I said in another thread we'd be seeing step back counter 1-2s from Kovalev. Well, side step counter 1-2s was more accurate, but it scared Ward away from ever throwing another straight right hand.
-Lederman and his daughter can give very strange decisions at times. This was one of those times :snoop:
-Lampley :pacspit:
-Kellerman and Roy did an excellent job tonight :salute:

So what does the future hold?....

-Kovalev will exercise his immediate rematch clause
-John David Jackson will be blamed and or fired for this loss
-Adonis Stevenson will continue to call himself the #1 Light Heavyweight in the world
-Ward will learn to be lighter on his feet in the rematch, hopefully
-Abel Sanchez will say something stupid
-The rematch will be on PPV with hopefully a much better undercard
-The rematch won't be in Russia
