I got my now 14 yo niece a Polaroid Now camera a couple years back, she really took to it. Always snapping up during family events (if she has enough film....Polaroid runnin a racket with them prices :aicmon:). She even bought additional accessories/filters with her allowance.

Was gonna wait til next year to buy her a 'legit' starter camera, but we got a family trip coming up this summer, so thought I might as well cop it before that.

1. What's a good camera that: is light enough for her to travel with.....carry around neck or her backpack/slingpack? and type of camera or lens that will do well capturing regular city shyt like Madrid, but also outdoorsy/hiking type shots thru the Alps?

Alternatively, I was thinking of maybe just getting her a point and shoot, super light weight camera and just getting her a better one at some point down the line.

2. Are yall self taught? If so, can yall drop some basic beginner videos.
Something like this that comes with a kit lens with put her in the game Amazon.com

I learned everything from drone operation to videography, photography, photo editing on YouTube, 5 years of learning everything element on YouTube and still learning

film photography is a cool hobby but I don’t FW it at all because it takes thousands of photos to learn and it cost too much

1. Any of the mirrorless bodies nowadays will be fine for her (Canon, Nikon, Sony,Olympus, etc.) All of them are pretty lightweight, as far as lenses a 24-105mm would more than cover everyday shots. Might wanna look at a tripod if she wants to get night shots. You have a lot more options with a mirrorless than a point and shoot camera.

2. I'm self taught, been with Canon since the start, learned on a DSLR, moved to a mirrorless, got into drones and gimbals.

Yup to me it's like driving a car the more you shoot the better you become

You learn how to use lighting the different settings etc.

And as time adapts so do you.

I use to shoot in manual and raw

Nowadays jpeg is good enough for me on most modern cameras and I shoot in av mode :ehh:

Also I used to be a whore for new gear etc. and do I need this new fancy lense or camera but now meh sold alot of my lenses and all I use now is a 85mm f2 and a 28mm 1.4 and when I travel a 16mm

I never even shoot at 1.4

Even in terms of editing nowadays I just use retouch AI programs

my girl just ordered her first camera yesterday, she got a Sony ZV-E10 :ehh:

I'm lowkey more excited for her to get it than she is
She didn't get any lenses though, she just said she gonna borrow all of mine :dahell:
She skipped the kit lens and went straight to the good glass gang :blessed:

@8WON6 @CashmereThoughts

How did yall get good at posing clients? I know there’s videos to help but it’s a different beast when you have to shoot in real life.

Also getting the Z6III with the 50mm 1.8 & 85mm 1.8 when April/May hits. Been getting extremely out of my comfort zone & asking people at the gym if they’d be down for me to shoot, so far 3 said yes. Feel anxious as fukk lol.

for most people put them in natural base poses. let them moves limbs, neck, chin, etc out of that pose. If people are straining or feel unnatural you can often times see it in their face.

also, just borrow poses from other sources like pinterest. Come up with a little basic shot list. Sometimes i'll ask people to come up with their own "mood" board. It gets them in the mindset of having their own poses they want to get so we have a plan, and they make sure they get what they want.

edit: slow down. I still have trouble with this sometimes. But ask them if they are on like a tight schedule or how ever you want to ask it so you can slow down a little.
