for most people put them in natural base poses. let them moves limbs, neck, chin, etc out of that pose. If people are straining or feel unnatural you can often times see it in their face.

also, just borrow poses from other sources like pinterest. Come up with a little basic shot list. Sometimes i'll ask people to come up with their own "mood" board. It gets them in the mindset of having their own poses they want to get so we have a plan, and they make sure they get what they want.

edit: slow down. I still have trouble with this sometimes. But ask them if they are on like a tight schedule or how ever you want to ask it so you can slow down a little.
Ahh..so it becomes more of a teamwork thing instead, Iite bet lol. Ima play around with posing in the mirror just to see how it looks as well.

And they’re regular gym heads I always chop it up with that don’t even get their picture taken like that. I been telling folks for years “yea, yea, we should do pictures sometime”…and been procrastinating, so this was my way to overcompensate. I’ll take your advice about slowing down though.

How did yall get good at posing clients? I know there’s videos to help but it’s a different beast when you have to shoot in real life.

Also getting the Z6III with the 50mm 1.8 & 85mm 1.8 when April/May hits. Been getting extremely out of my comfort zone & asking people at the gym if they’d be down for me to shoot, so far 3 said yes. Feel anxious as fukk lol.
I’m not good. Some of them just know what to do in front of the camera. I’m also selecting 4 shots out of 600
