Anything over $4500 really wouldn’t make sense cause it would be too close to Z9 territory. My z6ii been doing fine although I could use more MP for cropping purposes.

I really don’t need another camera, none of us with more modern mirrorless cameras do, but I’m sure when it releases and I watch 20 influencer videos that day, I’ll feel like my camera is a piece of shyt and buy the new one.
:mjcry:
What's keeping you from copping a Z7II for the MP?

Outside of more MP the Z7ii has the same faults and shortcomings as the Z6ii. Buying a Z7ii seemed like a bad idea knowing the Z9 is out and Z8 is on the horizon, and knowing they both fix the shortcomings of the Z6ii/Z7ii.
How is the autofocus on the Z6ii? I contemplated buying it for the longest but decided to wait on a later model.

In the real world it’s perfectly fine and can handle all portrait work thrown at. I have no idea how YouTubers made AF to be the end be all when it comes to cameras

With that being said at a meetup I used other cameras and can honestly say that the Sony a7iv and Cannon (I forgot what it was) AF absolutely shyts on the z6ii/Z7ii, like real bad lol. I have never used a z9 so I can’t speak on it. If you are purchasing a camera today I wouldn’t recommend a z6ii or a Z7ii.

Tripod or drone work @shutterguy? The lack of grain/low iso makes me think tripod?

All drone work. Had to hover low over the water off the NJ pier to get those building shots, helo's like crazy patrolling downtown Manhattan. Drone came in handy for the Ferrari dealership, didn't wanna go on the property after they closed.

The low light ability on that unit is nuts. What was the longest exposure time among those shots?

i want. is it a big learning curve, either flying or shooting?

Most of the drones atleast for DJI fly themselves, meaning they hover automatically and you direct them where you want them to go. Most have obstacle avoidance and smart flight modes which is very handy. Not difficult at all, I bought a cheap hobby store one to start on to get the idea of how they work before I got the Mavic 2.

DJI controllers come in 2 flavors, standard that used your phone or tablet via usb cable, not bad but more items in the chain that you have to keep an eye on. The other is a smart controller which incorporates the a display screen and controls all in one, way easier, unless you need a large tablet screen.

Depending on what size drone you get, you might have to register it with the FAA, they consider them an aircraft over a certain size. Also get your recreational license so you can fly legit.

Shooting is as easy as using your camera, controls are all on screen, with usually a shutter button on the controller. If you get one head to an open field to practice to get the hang of it.

Depending on the framerates you plan on using the most, don't even bother with getting them.

:hubie:

I got a small one just in case I wanted to shoot 120fps in 4K on my FX6... Guess how many times I've shot in that fps and resolution in 2 years?

:unimpressed:

I did spend a grip on the larger SDXC cards tho. I have 2 256GBs in my A74 and I have a 512GB in my FX6 and an 80GB CF Express.

:sadcam:

Yea, that’s what I’m hearing. My homie said he shot an entire short film on a v30 with his a7siii had me wondering.

I have some v60s and I think I’ll probably grab some v90s and call it a day. S&q mode really hasn’t been a part of my workflow for a while now so I think I’ll be great.

After I did the research, I saw that the V90 cards handle everything fine outside of that one mode. Plus you can get way more storage... They're expensive but if you don't want to worry about external drives and dropping even more on the CF Express A cards they are the way to go.

I got the PROGRADE joints

Yeah, I see what you mean.

Spec-wise, the Z7ii seems almost like a super up Z6ii.

I do alot of astro where I end up stacking images, so the MP is overkill for my purposes and not worth the extra 1000 dollars
