i want. is it a big learning curve, either flying or shooting?
Most of the drones atleast for DJI fly themselves, meaning they hover automatically and you direct them where you want them to go. Most have obstacle avoidance and smart flight modes which is very handy. Not difficult at all, I bought a cheap hobby store one to start on to get the idea of how they work before I got the Mavic 2.
DJI controllers come in 2 flavors, standard that used your phone or tablet via usb cable, not bad but more items in the chain that you have to keep an eye on. The other is a smart controller which incorporates the a display screen and controls all in one, way easier, unless you need a large tablet screen.
Depending on what size drone you get, you might have to register it with the FAA, they consider them an aircraft over a certain size. Also get your recreational license so you can fly legit.
Shooting is as easy as using your camera, controls are all on screen, with usually a shutter button on the controller. If you get one head to an open field to practice to get the hang of it.
