I sold some last year. Made about 800. It was cool during the pandemic and being at home etc. It's not bad for some "throwaway shots" you have lying around from other gigs or test shoots. It can become time consuming and might be worth it for what it is though. Passively speaking, it's good for some pocket change.

Did you have specific shots/types of shots you focused on putting out there, or was it a "throw something at the wall hoping something sticks" type deal?

Is the 5d Mark II too old at this point?

The 5d Mark III is almost twice the price of the Mark II is it worth the extra money for better auto focus? The Mark III is at the absolute end of my budget.
If I got the Mark ii Id have enough left over for a cheap lens. I currently have a 50 1.8 I use on my t3i but I'd like a 35mm. I shoot mostly landscape at night but would like to start doing portraits.

I'm not too concerned about video at this point.

I been a hobbyists for over 10 years and looking to take it up a notch. I lost motivation to shoot but my cousin who has been in the game for over 25 years encouraged me to get back into the game.

I see most people here have Sony though. Im willing to go mirrorless but don't thing there are any good options under $1k

5d mark II is fine if it still works :manny:

as far as mirrorless under 1k, fuji x-t2 or x-t3 used can be had for under that also Sony a7ii. Both of them would be an upgrade over the 5d

They actually kind of guide you through what folks are looking for. A lot of flatlays and generic corporate spacing photography. Guy on a computer. Pin etc.

I did have one of my protest photos picked up for a big one though

I talked with a cousin (been in the game over 25 years) and she said she would sell me a old 5d Mark II for $300 with batteries and charger.I only have a kit lens and a 50 1.8 so ill need to atleast get a 35mm as I want to do portraits and landscape.

But everyone is saying spend the money and go mirrorless. I travel a lot and will be taking my equipment but I also want equipment I can use to make money with eventually.

If I can get a used mirrorless body and used lenses for under $1500-2k ill do it.

But the Mark II at $300 is tempting. Sorry for all the noob questions. Just trying to make sure my money is best spent.

At the top.

I second this.

Mirrorless are smaller and easier to move around with. Like someone suggested you can look at a7ii or something like that for the low.

Sony 35/85 1.8 is pretty cheap to get you started. Can also looking into the Tamron 28-75 which is a pretty good all around lens for cheap.
