I'll probably get the IV, move the III as a backup camera. IV doesn't drop til December so that gives me some time to do some gigs to try and purchase before the new tax season kicks off.
this is a good video talking about the A7IV
Making the jump to Red.
Just ordered 2 komodos
This shyt is still sold outFinally decided I'm going to pull the trigger and get the FX6 and it's sold out everywhere.
Absolutely. I think a common misconception out there is that increased dynamic range and raw capability means you can completely miss exposure and fix it all in post.Congrats I've shot on those a couple times, just make sure you light whatever you're filming and you're good money. The fact that the ISO has no bearing on the sensor readout is clutch as well, the image fidelity is the same across the ISO range which is great for fixing overexposed highlights. However, if you underexpose the sensor that also means its going to look like shyt across every ISO so that's something to keep in mind.

No matter the camera you should always be aiming to nail everything IN camera and do minor adjustments in post. First for image quality and also for more efficient post production time.
I’ll be coming from primarily GH5 as an A cam and Sony A7R3 as B cam.Facts, one of the reasons I love the bmpcc4k is that the false color is extremely translatable to post, moreso than the histogram. If 80% of the image is green and grey it grades like a champ
This is the same reason I decided to get a cinema camera. I want to work with more producers/directors and teams of professionals that do more prep and pre-production work, opposed to me showing up somewhere and me having to literally wear all those hats.I’ll be coming from primarily GH5 as an A cam and Sony A7R3 as B cam.
I’ve been diving heavily into all the info on RED’s ecosystem and preparing myself for the differences in work flow. All my work has been run and gun with very little preproduction due to most of my clients being unprepared to put it bluntly. I constantly push for better pre-production and the Red is definitely going to require it. Hoping into a shot and flicking on a GH5 and getting whatever I can get on the drop of a dime is about to be a thing of the past. It’s sort of a negative in that regard but to be honest, I welcome the challenge since it pushes me in a direction I’ve wanted to go for the longest. I love the GH5 but I’m ready for that true digital cinema look. Global shutter and RAW recording are the next big leap for me and I’m excited for it.
