I signed up for a trial of the current PS and Lightroom but ima cancel in like a day and find a early version that's not cloud based

Can somebody just tell me what it takes to be a good or an ok photographer, as an acquaintance of mine is deluded in thinking that it doesn't take much to be a photographer, he got this delusion because he's got the newest iPhone and he's marvelled at the photo quality, dude even thinks there's no need in camera's because you got phones that are better than cameras
