girls love being in a "studio" and feeling like their doing something glamorous. And once some photogs get their name up they start charging. But yeah, at least around here, they love thinking they the shyt under them studio lights. Some models i know post more BTS of their studio shoots than the actual pictures. They pay money just for that.
Facts. Having your own studio would be crazy. Although personally I prefer shooting on scene.

Sidenote, I'll be back out there in KC again on Sunday. Chick hit me up to shoot but I know she found me through the other girls page I shot with out there. I didn't charge her since I contacted her to do a shoot. I'm wondering if she asked her if I charged her or not:jbhmm:

Either way I'm about let her know my rate. Usually if I contact a model I don't charge because I have an idea to get out and build the portfolio. But if THEY hit me up.....$$$

Bruh I stay wondering to same damn thing. I'm not too interesting in shooting that type of photography but they be getting paid

i get broads like being "in studio" everyone in general thinks that a studio just means "professional" which is :russ:

but $600 for 3 photos is a strong fee for a person to pay. I just wondered if these butt cheek photogs was getting paid by magazines, business, or the hoes... and i guess its the hoes :ehh:

It depends on who wants the content and exposure. The models know the exposure can open doors or get more business for them, same for photogs. $600 can be high for a few shots, however it depends on pricing in your area. When you have clients willing to pay that without question, all you have to do is deliver.

There was a photog in NY, Frank Antonio, had (and might still) a bomb ass studio with clock towers, spiral staircases, multi-rooms with elaborate setups. He was charging a grip, his work is top notch, he did models, auto photography, wheels, you name it.

What do you use if you wanna get a percentage of your pay in advanced?

Is it considered ghetto to just say "Oh Venmo this percentage before the session"?

I don't get the issue though lol. The ig women are no different than the regular civilians who pay for portrait photography. The ig women still are paying customers(those who don't try to get free shoots or act like they all that) trying to get something out of their pics

there is no issue. i dont know why you think there is one. I didnt understand who was paying the bread. thats all i was trying to figure out. Living in LA, most chicks i come across are trying to finesse shots, either by offering up the p*ssy, or for "exposure" I havent met one photographer out here IRL thats gettin money from shooting broads in that style. so when i seen dude was actually getting money, i investigated, and @shutterguy hitting me with the info, thank you sir :salute:

there's headshot photographer that charges $1000 for a 30min session. I went and asked why and how. I'm not saying no one should charge those prices. I just wanna the ins and outs, ya dig?

you have a contract that says "30% upfront non-refundable fee" which usually is a spot holder. at least thats what i do. If you hit me up to shoot, i'm blockin out a part of my day to accommodate the shoot, so i get that fee up front so that if they flake, i didnt just waste my time/potentially lose out on money from someone else.

Not at all. A lot of photogs charge a non-refundable deposit to reserve a spot for a shoot. Best thing is to have that mentioned on your website or in the initial communication beforehand. I let every wedding client know that deposits are not refundable once you sign the contract. To get your deposit you can use any payment service that you can email a receipt of (PayPal, venmo, square). Square will send you a card payment processor for free if you setup an account.

No issue man thanks for the help :salute: with the other questions

btw what do you mean "spot holder"?

Man this whole process is extensive. Glad i'm following GoldenGlove's advice when he was in here about the 365 challenge where he said he made sure to learn something every day for 3 years.

What gets me is that you need so much equipment lol

softbox
octabox
beauty dish
umbrella
wireless triggers for alien bee strobes
alien bee strobes
background paper or polyurethane boards(a poster in here way back when i was reading the old posts said some people buy those and paint the boards )

am i forgetting anything else lol :lolbron:

"spot holder" is like a person is booking me for 4pm - 7pm. I block that time frame out. if someone else hits up to shoot, that time frame i cant shoot in because the 1st person asked for that time. if you dont get a fee/down payment to hold that time, and the 2nd person wants it also but you say "no" and the 1st mufukka flakes and you got no money... you just lost bread. :sadbron: hopefully i explained that correctly.

and you dont NEED all that shyt, you can get a decent studio set up with 2 speed lights, remote triggers, 1 large soft box (if you doing full body shots), a reflector/ big ass piece of foam core, and a white backdrop with some gels for your 2nd light.
