Nice shots and good to hear on the networking. I've been reaching out myself and have been pretty good with getting responses and shoots setup. We had our local motorcycle show recently, I went there with a pack of business cards, gave them to the working promo models.

That's a smart idea

Most of the models I run into are local and have done or thought about modeling at some point. We have our auto show coming up at the end of this month, gonna do the same thing. I keep some of my portfolio on my phone, so if they are interested I can show them. I figure the companies either work with local models or hire them to travel with the show to different cities.

Tripod, timer setting on the camera, and lights is really all you need. What I've done is put a chair where I'm going to be sitting or standing and clamp something to it to extend up to where my head would be, manual focus the camera on that, timer it, then jump in the shot.

If you're using auto focus, select a focus point where you head would be or like shutterguy said prefocus on something as a stand-in.

Anyone got fukking tax tips?
What good is selling my photos if it's just going to destroy my return. They sent me a 1099 and that is making me a "business" according to the feds.

I mean I'm a business but....yeah

But because I don't have a LLC at the moment I'm going not be able to do any of that until next year's tax return no? Which sucks because I bought the camera and all my lenses in 2016.

I got my first speed light (YN685), but I'm not sure how to make it work wirelessly using commander mode on my D7100. Anyone have any advice? I raise the flash on my camera, point it at the sensor on the speed light then shoot, but the remote flash never triggers.

Built in flash is off, group A and B is TTL, and the channel is 1 and The speed light is in manual slave mode (622 r. slave) on group A and channel 1 as well.

EDIT: looks like I need the transmitter for it to work and it'll be here Monday.
