Alien bees most definitely are the way to go. Great price for great quality and great customer service should something go wrong; more than enough power/light. i have 2 400s with the umbrella kit or whatever. i suck at using them because im not well versed in portraiture but a lot of power and a great system to work with. easy to set up with canon os at least

Brehz, I need some recommendations for lighting such as soft boxes and what not.

all i got is a cheap Yongnuo flash and a umbrella/light stand that i can shoot through. I don't really know alot about constant lights or strobes though. Hit youtube and just watch a bunch of videos on lighting from places llke Adorama/SLR Lounge/Slanted Lens. I learned basically everything I know from youtube for free. People really be sleeping. And just make sure you prioritize shooting. Alot of people be like "I take my camera everywhere". I don't I just make time to explore my city and shoot. That's just me though. I started in like 2012 I think I can't fully remember. I went out shooting every once in a while during like 2013 and 2014. Then last year I just fully committed to like going out and shooting as much as possible on the weekends, then when my shyt got way better. Also, link up with other like minded shooters from Instagram. It helps.
