I just got a t5i the other day. It came in a bundle with a case and 2 lenses. After doing some reading I se the 1st lens I have to cop is the 50mm 1.8 stm. I know absolutely nothing about photography, I just wanted a real camera as opposed to my iPhone or a point and shoot.

I downloaded Adobe lightroom so I got to figure out how to fukk with that as well.

I'm looking at getting a shot like this. Any tips on the best way to go about it? Just looking for input. I haven't tried it myself yet but any advice to cut out any guess work would be appreciated.
this is done with an off camera flash. You expose without flash so that the picture is completely black. Like -3 on your cameras lightmeter. Then add the flash.

since you have a crop camera i would recommend getting a 35mm lens instead of the 50mm. Your camera has a crop factor of 1.6x which would make the 50mm a 80mm lens whereas a 35mm would be about 56mm on that camera.

I took the t5 back and swapped it for a Nikon d3300. Comparison reviews all seemed to give the 3300 the edge over the t5 plus it was $200 cheaper.

But anyway, it seems that the 35mm is lens everyone recommends for the Nikon so I'll be copping that. Damn thing is $200. Gonna try to find a refurbished one on the cheap.
