Brehz, Idk shyt about photography. But I'm gonna get me a dslr soon. I recently bought a 35mm f1.8g nikkor lens so I'm obviously going for a Nikon.

I'm debating between the d5500 or d7200. Is the d7200 worth the $400 jump?

I'm going to be biking again, and I know a lot of beautiful spots to take pics. My pos camera phone could never do these natural landscapes justice. I'm also going to be traveling a lot this year. Got a family reunion in July, going to see my dad in Hawaii for thanksgiving and then meet up with my fam at Disney world.

Greatly appreciate some input.

I don't know much about this camera, but DPREVIEW compares it to the Sony Alpha 7 II and Canon 7D which are both good cameras.

I'm curious if anybody on here was following this guy prior to this week.

I saw another photographer drop his VSCO post for the riots and his work before the Time cover dropped. Then 2 days later, I see his image got the cover of Time. I hit my brother up in the morning putting him on, and he was at 23K followers yesterday morning on IG. Later on in the day, he was at 37K followers, and I'm talking about like by 2-3PM CST

:wow:

I wonder how many followers he had before the riots, but that's dope. He def won as far as his working making an impact and being here forever. I don't know how the business side of it all works, but outside of the prints how does Time compensate breh for his images? Does he just eat off the promotion?

Either way, I agree... keep shooting, and put yourself in that position to take images that people want to see and that tell a story. If I was in BMore I'd be on the same thing.

EDIT: He's at 43.1K followers now

Yeah, I'm most definitely going to go with the d5500 since I'm a first timer.

I don't know much about the Nikon's, I have Canon's, only advice I can give you is spend the best yout can on good glass, you will thank yourself later, also a good backpack or camera bag since you will be biking. One that does both with a rain cover is what I would recommend.

Yeah, thats why I bought my lens seperate and buying the body only.

If I get addicted to this shyt, I may invest in more lenses, but I think one prime should suffice as a noob.

Also, I know taking pics is half the battle. What are some recommendations for post processing? I got a super computer that I built, but don't know shyt about software aspect of post photos.

Lightroom. They just released a new version too.

That 35mm lens is a pretty good lens from what I saw.

old ass nikon lenses dont have motos, so if you put them on dx cameras below the 7000 series, you have to focus them manually. the 7000 series allows you to use old ass glass and still have autofocus. all of the fullframe cameras(except some of the old ass ones) have built in motors so u can auto focus with new and old ass lenses. its not much of a concern if you dont pan on messing with old lenses.

I see. Nah, if I were to use invest in old lenses, id go full frame. But im a beginner, so I think starting off at crop is a no brainer. Im just pissed because I want to buy the d5500 camera off of Amazon because I have a $100 gift card I can use towards it, but amazon is saying they can't ship to where I live.
