@shutterguy what lens you using on the planes? and I checked out your MM profile, nice port, I need to start working with people more. Hope that aint too stalkerish :patrice:

Nice shots you got there. For the planes I used the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Lens, no tripod, just hand-held. Thanks for checking out MM, I use that site every once and awhile, been pulling people from FB more often. No worries on stalking, my name is on my shots, a quick google search would find my networking sites and website, I don't mind.

houston.
the 50mm 1.4/8 is a must have for everyone so...

no point of buying the 1.4 just to sell and get the 1.8

zoom is nice to have. i'm a zoom kinda person. but i think most ppl will advise the 50 over the 17-55 for it's 1.4 and prime image quality.

edit: plus real heads with full frame don't use the 17-55 2.8 cause it's only a crop lens. not sure the equivalent is for full frame. the 50 1.4 can be used on both.
the 17-55 2.8 is an improvement over the kit lens cause all kit lenses are sh1ty and meant to be cause they're used to sell bodies..
for general purposes i guess the 17-55 2.8 is a good buy.
I appreciate the advice, I ordered the 17-55mm lenses the other day and waiting for it to come. Can't wait to put this lens to work
