He's not retiring. Aldis is about to put him over
They really had Eddie Kingston, Ricky Starks and Zicky Dice on their roster - people who could have connected with an Under-60 audience - and somehow Trevor Murdoch ended up as the next prospect up
It's confusing, because it all leads back to the original question people had when NWA relaunched: what's the goal?
Because on one hand, I completely get that in today's wrestling landscape, you need to have some sort of unique twist or presentation to stand out. Especially since you're more likely to be sharing talent than ever before.
But, shyt, we've already got proof that the angle of appealing to an audience that remembers Saturday morning wrestling being a thing back in the 70s and 80s really isn't going to be all that successful. We've had proof for literal YEARS now that Aldis' "Yeah, but what if this time, Ric Flair was British?" act ain't it. And you're right, replacing him with a dude who even less people might remember from his heyday who seems to be pulling a "But what if modern Dusty was even MORE of a redneck?" shtick makes no sense either. None of this makes sense, and it almost feels impossible to even come up with an idea of what they're trying to accomplish.
