Luke Cage's Missick Explains Misty Knight's 'Misty Vision' & More
Though it’s no secret that Misty Knight is headed to Netflix on Marvel’s “Luke Cage,” little else has been revealed about her role in the show — until now. Actress Simone Missick, who plays the capable cop-turned-hero in the upcoming series, recently revealed what audiences can expect from her when they watch “Luke Cage,” the way the show connects to current events and how she landed the role.

Speaking with Hallmark Channel’s Mark Steines and Debbie Matenopoulos, Messick admitted that the pressure of playing the part was a challenge that she dealt with by tuning out the media buzz, saying, “When I got the role, I didn’t read the comic books, I didn’t look at the blogs and the chat boards.” Missick acknowledged that she knew there were a lot of fans waiting to see Misty Knight on screen, and she relied on her classical training as an actress to do justice to the part.

When asked about her version of Misty Knight’s personality, Missick described the detective as a “badass.” She touched on the character’s deep connection to Harlem and highlighted her mental and physical toughness. Missick also discussed the character’s unique power, which she coined “Misty Vision,” which allows her to “look at a crime scene and figure out what happened.”

Missick also explained how the series’ storyline touches on current events, specifically as they pertain to America’s black population:

“We’re in a time where we’re looking at the Black Lives Matter movement. That all kind of sparked from the death of Trayvon Martin, who was this young teenaged boy, visiting his dad, and he was wearing a hoodie, and was attacked and murdered.”

She revealed that the show’s producers and lead actor Mike Colter wanted Luke Cage to wear a hoodie to highlight the fact that “just because a person has on a piece of clothing and is of color, doesn’t mean they’re a bad person.”

In the video below, the actress also chats with the hosts about race relations, religion and the importance of maintaining a positive outlook.

It wasnt supposed to go this long i think.

They were all supposed to be one season and then go to defenders mini series to meet up.

Daredevil viewership musta been crazy though.
