Dude dude dude lol don't give me the whole "its a comic book movie!" argument because that doesn't mean you don't do basic story shyt. Green Lantern ignores storytelling 101, shyt any of us can learn in a basic high school creative writing class. That's the point I'm making and you're missing. Was Hal a good dude? Sure. Did he do anything to explain to me why he was heroic? Nah not at all. That's not academy award level shyt that's basics. Main character with a journey and an arc. Drama between characters. Coherent story logic and coherent story. That's shyt my 6th grade english teacher taught me, but somehow this movie ignored all of that. There's a reason it didn't work and it was because it was all over the place and it gave no reason to give a fukk. When you throw in the muddled antagonist and the lack of real conflict, which is something else Ms. Hall would've went ape shyt on them for, you end up with a bad movie. I don't give a fukk about an oscar worthy script. I'm looking forward to Fast 8 next month and i know i won't get an oscar level script with that, but i do know it'll be coherent, the characters will be clearly drawn, the motivations will be clear, the stakes will be clear, and it will adhere to just basic writing tools that any 12 year old knows. There's no real character to speak of in that movie, EXCEPT the stuff on Oa and it's shortchanged. That's the coolest most interesting part of the movie and they pay it no attention.

Aight... I will admit this... maybe its on me that I dont know the in-depth details about who Hal is in terms of his origin. I recall before that dropped they had done the GL DC animated movie and a lot of what was done in the movie was done in that animation so maybe I just got "well this is his origin and they sticking straight too it" assumption.

I guess I can wiki it to re-familiarize myself with Hal cuz I'm not sure what I'm missing from him that he's lacking.

But that FF??:mjlol:Coherent??:gladbron: Man that shyt is basically 4th Of July Fireworks on Imax nothing about that franchise has even made sense since FF2, but the fukkery addition is so glorious. I watch that franchise no longer anymore trying to understand it but instead MARVEL at its beauty on some Bansky shyt

I'm not saying FF is a masterpiece though breh :russ: :whoa: I'm saying it does the basics and Green Lantern didn't. and that's not about the origin story either that's just story basics within it. Like where's the character? Where's the interactions and all that other shyt that actually matters? It was gone man. That's what I'm saying. FF is fukkery yes but it does the basics well. The characters are drawn well enough where you know who they are and what they're about. The drama is there, the conflict is clear, and obviously the stakes are there. It ain't high art by any means but it does storytelling 101 shyt.

I mean that from jump tho. In each movie. They adhere to just basic shyt. Even if the dialogue is meh and the acting is whatever and sometimes that use of CG is awful each movie tells you who's who what they want who's stopping it and why they want it. That's what green lantern doesn't do

I think the biggest problem with the show is they didn’t figure out a tone; Colleen comes off consitant the first six episodes; the trump siblings are they bad people? are they immoral ? The brother seems lost and over whelm after the pilot; but the first episode he sends a guy to murder Danny - that’s not consistent characterization

Danny really entitled and controlling

Rough up the black kid at the Dojo :scust:

Buy collen building :hhh:

talking down on the homeless guy who tries to help him :gucci:

Danny rand had two characterizations in comics a mood Bruce wayne type guy and a goofy Jackie chan kind of guy – they keep trying to do both and Danny comes off as crazy

The parts that work with the character are when he more sweet and innocent-a more peace filled Danny rand who a little bit of a dopey but a good soul would been better than this mishmash of characterization

Should have been like Romeo Must Die and 8 episodes. his reason for coming back should have been to find who killed his parents and it should have ended in a fight where he rediscovered the iron fist

my opinion is mixed
I still enjoy the show and want to watch it further and further BUT sometimes it's mad illogical, I mean if I can hold a show about a clearly fantasy thing responsible for not being logical but still...

I start to think that Danny is an a$$hole or rather just the creators of the show are inconsistent with their logic.

He raised to defend K'un Lun, since he was 10, period. He was chosen to be the Iron Fist which is suppose to be some of the greatest honor there.
And now he just goes back to NY, betrays his master and the peopel who raised him just because of... what? Based on "This guy is still American after all isn't he...? He can't just stay in Asia forever"?

Bullshyt. He lived in K'un Lun since he was 10 and raised there to do one task. I don't believe that a guy like that just packs his stuff one day and goes back to America cause somehow he feels that's his home because he spent his first 10 years there and he remembers only 4 years from that probably.

Why did he go back? First he tried to tell Joy and Ward that he just wanted to meet with them he doesn't need money and shyt... then at a point he sues them and wants his part in the company. :what: So he still wanted the money or what...?

Why the fukk he went back to NY? The "he wants to find out what happened to his parent" angle not working cause at the beginning of the show he simply thinks it was an accident and even if he would have known that it probably wasn't he should have started to look for the answers in the Chinese town they headed to when the accident happened, not in NY.

Also I know Ward is an a$$hole too but at a point I really felt for him. He just wanted to leave all this bullshyt behind, the fukking company and all moving to some Caribbean isalnd to live there the rest of his life in chill but no, his sister and father forced him back... :scust:

Other thing what I don't get but I got pretty much used to already that in this show seemingly everyone forgets that they live in the XXI. century where they don't have to attack one of the most skilled martial artists on the planet with hands, swords and knifes but they can simply shoot him, blow him up, etc... Like people in this show wouldn't know about the existence of guns... :comeon:

At episode 7 now, unless there's a major dropoff I don't know what all the negative buzz was about.

Definitely the weakest of the bunch but still dope to me :yeshrug:

Edit: just read episode 6 was directed by the Rza :ohhh:
