2nd episode was straight. I like the humor that Matt Ryan brings to the role of Constantine, him bringing the frozen dinner to the wake was funny. Also liked the introduction of Zed, she has a very pretty face :whoo:. The actual case was alright, with the whole miner plot. I have a feeling if the show really wants to get good, it will need to embrace more serialization in the long run.
serialization as in continuity? That seems to have went out with the 00s the last shows of that kind on network tv were 24 and lost

Episode was slightly better than the first.

I felt like matt ryan was more comfortable in his skin as constantine here than the pilot which made it more enjoyable.

But the case of the week shyt is so archaic. I feel like its unacceptable in 2014 to still be using that stale format.

I hope they go for bigger arcs.
Its network tv the hell do you expect? Execs don't have faith in the modern tv audience attention span and to be fair their right. No one really commits to network tv shows that aren't episodic procedural types. Anything that has an overarching plot seems to draw a :camby: reaction. To much work to invest

Which is why it'd be nice if these shows were on premium channels so they only need to be 10-12 EPs long and not 22 EPs half of which is filler. But for comic book shows they are trying to get little kids in the audience as well so they have to put it on a network

I'm actually interested in the show but I have zero faith in NBC giving it a 2nd season. Hard to commit. Think DCs TV streak is over. Reserve a spot in the bushes for CBSs Supergirl too

It can still be done, see Hannibal and some other shows. It doesn't have to be as heavy as say a Lost, just sprinkle more in and do more 2 part stories, etc.

I enjoyed the last episode. Zed works well with Constantine and her face is so pretty :noah:.

Cool seeing Ava from Justified pop up in the episode as well.

Is this holding Grimm's audience? Grimm is on its 3rd or 4th season without being a big hit but has a loyal audience. If Constantine is holding that audience and its cheap enough to keep being made, it might make it to a 2nd season
So far the trend is looking like this: in the 18-49 demo Grimm has been getting between a 1.2-1.3 while Constantine clocks in with a steady 1.0 which for a Friday show isn't bad and shows that Constantine doesn't completely lose the Grimm audience. Overall viewer numbers are usually around 4-5 million for Grimm and between 3-4 for Constantine.

Yeah, I'm not too optimistic about a 2nd season. The show is doing worse I believe than Dracula which was canceled last season. It's doesn't have the critical favor like a Hannibal does either.

I thought this past episode was the best the show has done yet. The hunger demon led to some funny moments with the people it possessed. Plus the demon of the week had emotional weight with the way it tied to John's friend and the sacrifice he had to make.

That closing scene with John holding his hand while he was strapped to the bed screaming in agony was :wow:.

I like Matt Ryan a lot as Constantine and Zed as well. I am really falling in love with that chick :noah:. Even if it doesn't come back for another season, I'll enjoy it while it is on.
