Just found out about the death squad from a guy I rolled with the other day.
Found a Danaher Video to DL. Homie obviously knows what hes talking about, but its so technical and psychological I'm not enjoying watching/learning it.
Man, I’ve been training for 15 years and I teach, and I can’t stand watching Danaher teach. There are some other resources that cover a lot of the same material that aren’t so hard to get through. Feel free to hit me up man and I can help.

Im still green, real green. I joined a gym right before everything shutdown. My homie whos a 2 stripe white belt, gave me a solid base. Im stronger than most of people I roll against. My top pressure is real good.
The biggest hole in my game right now is maintaining back control. Even with my size n strength advantage, I get shaken off real easy. I don't even take back any more. Only time I take back now, is to try to practice holding on for 4 secs to get points if I ever compete.
If you have any tips on that I would love to hear them..
Thx man
Almost forgot, the 2nd big hole is any neck chokes. RNC, or G. I always get into position, but I rarely get a tap out from it. Maybe twice, but no more than 3 times. After a lil bit, I just let go and move on to something else.
I want to mention a few positives to see if you had any advice to give me that would make my strengths even stronger. I mentioned my top pressure which is very good. That and my strength is what I always get complimented on, n 3rd would be cardio.
My game is pretty much passing guard, getting into side control and squeezing. From there I got good at trapping the arm on my leg side (I used to do an arm lock from this position, but I stopped cuz I wanted to learn other Subs), then going 2 on 1 on the other arm and getting an Americana and sometimes a Kimura.
From there my game progressed to teasing that arm and getting them to turn their back to me leaving them open for an armbar. Im getting pretty good at it. Especially after realizing it doesn't need to be a quick movement. Just trap the arm, make sure you got it tight, then step over, etc, etc
For like a real feel good moment: The other day, I rolled with a Brown Belt. He did kind of invite me into Side Control, but I don't think he expected my pressure to be that good. Now, I was fresh and he had rolled with another Brown Belt before our roll, but I got on him and he couldn't shake me. I did what I explained with trapping the arm, then attacking the other arm. For a smaller guy he was strong AF, I just couldn't bend that elbow to get it where I needed it to go. But after a while he turned his back to me and to clamped down on him. Then before I could really go for the armbar, he tapped.
Other than the subs I mentioned already, my next best/fav sub is the head n arm choke.
Again man, any advice/tips will be greatly appreciated .
I have a hard time giving much credit for a win over someone that hasn't fought since 2016 and lost their last fight...I also just think Cruz is overrated, half his best wins are over natural 125'ers.
When was last time Cruz has been a champ? When was last time he's even been 90% healthy and seen in top tier form.
I really don't wanna see this match up jus from stand point of I have no reason to Wat h Cruz break both his knees again. He's a solid commentator pls jus continue with that Cruz. Be happy you can still walk and talk properly.
My take aways:
- May 13th and 16th cards are pretty damned good. I'm still in "believe it when I see it" mode, but some of the fights they have booked are really hype.
- Yadong vs Vera and Hill vs Gadelha are my favorites of the bunch. Ige vs Barboza is pretty crazy too. OSP vs Rothwell...kinda weird, could be a lot of fun.
- I'm also looking forward to Walt Harris' return, hard not to root hard for the guy after what his family's just been through and he was on the verge of breaking through when he left. Overeem is a really big test though.
- Woodley is likely to headline May 23rd's card according to White. Very interesting because he has been going at it with a bunch of fighters recently, my pick of the bunch would be Covington.
- The other really interesting future reference was Masvidal. Dana White said they have something interesting that he wants to talk to Masvidal's team about and it would have to be bigger than a title shot to justify the booking...I can count those opponents on one hand with fingers to spare. This also frees up Usman but for who?
