Weekend takeaways:
- RDA needs a 165 lbs division more than anyone in the UFC. He's an elite talent without a division like MM back pre-125 (not trying to say he'll be a dominant champ like that but he's not a real contender at WW to me and 155 seems to take a step out of him).
- Tyson Pedro is a dude I was hype about because he had solid ground game and real sharp power strikes, I'm disappointed now even with the loss coming from an injury. His only good moments came off an accidental headbutt, otherwise Rua was either right with him or getting the better of exchanges.
- On that note Rua is really starting to show his age...even more than before imo. But there's still a lot of vintage Rua in there with the overhand right counters and ability to take a fight where he has advantages.
- JDS still has it...enough to make a run in a light HW division at least. Also, who is Tai Tuivasa's BJJ coach bc it felt like he was defending himself but the "intelligently" part was more of a question mark.
- Tyson Fury got knocked to heaven, received a pep talk from God and then got up in 9 seconds flat from a Wilder bomb. That woulda been the Derrick Lewis comeback for boxing and I think it'd make for a bigger promo opportunity than Fury winning the decision or what we got which was a weird draw decision with a crazy scorecard for Wilder.
- Sodiq Yusuff and Kai Kara France both got my attention with their debuts. Really promising starts for both guys in the UFC.
