I really hate when people say why doesn't he finish people like its that easy. Benson is always facing top level comp. How many times has Masvidal, Edgar, Cerrone, etc been finished? Hes a good fighter who will hopefully stay with the UFC(today was hes last fight under his contract)
Benson is easily one of my fav fighters hes not boring a t all his fight against Thatch is one of my favfight of all time.

Stun Gun destroyed ive been saying for years on here hes a problem i wish he actually got a real test.

By the way i seen on sherdog people were talking about weidmans weight I see him almost everyday when hes taking his daughter to school im passing by that block at the same time he drops her off on my way to work and people said hes light and yeah he looks fukking super lean right now should be interesting how that effects him against Rockhold.

:ohhh: tell Weidman to come on the podcast

Stun gun went against a guy who didn't train for him. Waters messed up by grappling with him. I would like to see a rematch of those two

My brother had a fight last week and he won by TKO in the second round, which makes him 3-0 brehs! :blessed:

There were 14 fights on the night and there was some fukkery involved. This is going to be long but I think you guys will appreciate the craziness that went down. I’ll break it up in a few posts. For anyone who hasn't been, going to an MMA fight is the ultimate show of hyper-masculinity, ultra competitiveness, and violence. Especially when you throw alcohol into the mix.

First, about 12 of our old wrestling teammates and coaches came out to watch the fight unexpectedly, and there's nothing like catching up with people whom you haven't seen in years while watching huge men punch each other in the face.
I saw them walk in and I literally had the :gladbron: face haha

The place was packed over capacity so we all just stood behind the ringside seats in one of the corners. We were literally a few feet from the ring so we saw all of the action closeup. Everybody's drinking and cheering and having a good time, but the craziness started quickly.

The first two fighters come out and I knew it was going to be one of those fights where you can tell who wins before the bell even rings. One dude was in decent (not great) shape and he looked like on his feet. The other dude was flat out obese and there was nothing light about him. The dude in decent shape let the punches fly and he won in about 3 minutes by TKO. That set the tone for the night.

I'm sure some of you have heard of him, but Cody Garbandt (a UFC fighter) was at the event because his cousin was making his fighting debut. Garbrandt is from our area so he has a pretty big MMA following up here. Anyway, his cousin goes into the ring and I take one look at his opponent and immediately started shaking my head.

This dude looked like a regular guy who was just looking for a new hobby. No muscle definition, no size, he looked like a teacher who got dropped into an Octagon. On the other hand, Garbrandt's cousin has a long boxing history and he looked exactly like what you would expect from an MMA fighter: ripped body, tattoos, the aggression. You could tell this was about to go sideways FAST.

The fight starts and the cousin hits the teacher with a jab right in the face. No joke, the teacher immediately covers his face, turns away, and drops into the fetal position. THEN THE COUSIN STARTS HAMMERING THIS DUDE IN THE BACK OF HIS HEAD WITH AT LEAST 5 OR 6 HEAVY PUNCHES. He wasn't punching him in the side of the head or the ear, he was raining punches squarely in the back of this dude's head.

I'm in the crowd like :damn: :damn: :damn:stop the fight!

Finally the ref steps in after waaay to many punches to stop the fight, and Garbrandt's cousin starts celebrating like he won! Dude is in the cage screaming and posing for photos, his family is sitting ringside and they're cheering like madmen, and I'm standing there thinking "they are about to flip the fukk out when they realize that this dude got disqualified."

Sure enough, the ref discusses things with the judge, and they call it a no-contest. Garbrandt and his family lost their gotdamn minds. They're yelling all types of cuss words and threats at the ref. Then the biggest dude in their group (at least 6'8 and 350lbs) gets up and tries to grab one of the judges.

Garbrandt also lost his mind and he had to be restrained by security for a while. Then he stormed into the locker room and my brother said he was back there calling bullshyt, but I texted him like "nah, his cousin should have been flat out disqualified." We wrestled his team in high school and he was a bit of a hot head back then, so I can't be too surprised about what happened.

Security settled things down after a few minutes of chaos, and the fight promoter gets in the ring talking about "please respect the judges and remain calm" and I was like, man this dude needs to get some bass in his voice!

:heh:

Then, I hear a commotion behind me and I think to myself "please tell me that my teammates are not getting into a crowd fight right now!" Of course, this is the group you want to be with if a fight breaks out, but I wasn't trying to get involved in that.

Anyway, I turn around and some random dude had fainted. He literally passed out and his limp body fell into where my teammates were standing. My teammates are trying to pull the dude to his feet (remember, they're drinking) and I had to step in like "let him lay there, he ain't moving!" We call over the EMTs and they revive him and get him hooked up with some fluids.

Ok, so after that shyt with the fainting guy, we get back to the action. My brother’s fight was about to start, so I’ll give you some background on how his opponent even got here. I mentioned it a while back but my brother had a few scheduled fight that ended up being cancelled at the last minute, and two of them were scheduled with this guy.

So, about an hour before the fights started last week, they couldn’t find my brother’s opponent and it started looking like he was about to bail again. My dad was a little heated when I told him. “This muhfukka done backed out twice already, he about to do it again?!”

I had to be like :whoa: "calm down pops. He already weighed in so he will show up.”

I was right and the dude showed up, but he would have been better off bailing again. My brother gave him that work. He is just too damn fast and strong for people his size to handle. The thing is, this opponent was fast as hell too and it felt like he almost caught my brother with a few shots that had me in the crowd nervous. My brother controlled the first round and landed several solid punches, and he ended it in the second with a TKO after he let the fists fly in the ground/pound.

I asked my brother after the fight if he felt like the dude was fast and he hit me with the :stopitslime:. He said he saw all the dude’s punches/kicks coming and he was not about to get caught slipping. That excellence.

I almost forgot to mention that after my brother’s fight there was a female fight and that shyt got brutal. They were evenly matched but in the second round, the taller woman caught the shorter one in a leg-scissors position and started choking her. While she was choking her, she was hammering her in the stomach at the same time.

After 5 hard blows, I saw the shorter woman’s neck and arm go limp as she passed out, but the ref didn’t stop the fight!

I’m standing there like :merchant::damn::mindblown: “she’s not moving!” but the ref let the taller chick get a few more punches in before stopping it.

Then the shorter chick just laid there and they had to call the EMTs to help. They worked on her for about 5 minutes and they even pulled out the oxygen mask and everything. She ended up walking out of the ring on her and she seemed fine when I saw her later, but that was hard to watch.

Anyway, if you guys haven’t attended an MMA fight in-person then you should check one out. It’s a completely different experience vs watching it on TV.

3-0 brehs. 3-0! :whew:

So does your bro have to be in a big gym to get the looked at from the big MMA companies or how does it all work since he's an amateur? And what is his game plan if he has one to get himself in the spotlight?

is it possible that all that weight lifting could affect Jons cardio? We know DC can take a punch and he can also handle himself well when it comes to grappling so there's a strong chance the fight is going 5 rounds. Do you guys think it's possible for Cormier to wear Jones down and win in the 4th or 5th round?

DC's cardio was much better against Gus and he was in the best shape he's ever been at 205. I still think Jones will win again but by decision like the first one.

I was pulling for Jorge just cus I remember him from those kimbo back yard fights but I'm a fan of benson too.

What's the consensus on 194 here? I got Aldo, Weidman and Romero

I got the exact opposite but I've been back and forth on all three fights the whole time. Jacare is my favorite middleweight so I'm riding with him definitely and I could be biased picking Rockhold because I wanna see that rematch so badly.

UFC194: Money on Aldo but the fukkery if McGregor wins makes me want him to win. Weidman is easy money. He's solid everywhere. Rockhold is good but he's Weidman Lite. Rooting for Jacare over that cheating Caveman.
