:ld: damned if I know but with Anderson and Jones gone mma has lost a lot of legitimacy. A lot of these dudes like Chuck Liddell who are heralded were nothing more than bar fighters as far as I'm concerned.
To be fair, the fight game wasn't as refined as it is now when Chuck was champ. That era was when fighters were just now becoming more well rounded as far as better wrestling to complement jits, crisper boxing....etc. ...but yeah, if it weren't for Chuck's takedown defense and the fact that he, at the time, brought a style of punching to the table that most fighters couldn't train for, he wouldn't have gotten far as he did had fighters been more well rounded from jump (especially better hands). Once fighters started stepping their boxing game up it was a wrap, those looping punches weren't bout shyt anymore :russ:

just got finished reading an article about ed ruth signing to bellator. real talk, that reebok deal might end biting ufc in the ass. ruth is still going to the 2016 olympics and if he comes home with a medal then got damn :whew: he won't be making no 2500 in sponsorship money for his first fight. all this shyt has done is help bellator imo. i think ufc has to make some changes to that payscale. i just now thought about ronda, she's hands down has the most mainstream appeal in the sport. she's in movies, commericals, on magazine, tv shows, etc. for her to make 40K a fight from that deal, is fukking RAPE!

Ronda has a separate deal with Reebok, same with Conor & Paige. She is :eat:good off Reebok, unlike almost every other UFC fighter.

Mike Roberts of MMA Inc., who represents the likes of Anthony Pettis, Urijah Faberand Paige VanZant, said that only "10 to 15 percent" of his fighters will benefit from the UFC's uniform deal with Reebok.

"The other 85 to 90 percent, it's gonna hurt," Roberts said

Someone like Chad Mendes, an MMA Inc. client, is affected the most. He's a title contender and has headlined in his last two bouts, including a pay-per-view. But unless he's fighting for a title, his next bout will only get him $10,000 from the Reebok deal. Roberts said Mendes made "considerably more money" in the past.

the only way to make this right is to increase purses. They knew how much these folks were making before it shouldn't be difficult to make the difference.
I don't even get the point to all this like you were already stiffing these fighters on pay in the first place but there was a system in place for them to hustle for sponsors it took the heat off zuffa and for many they were living good. Then zuffa implement the sponsorship tax which weeded out the top sponsors from the lil engines that could. Through that the sponsors that could afford the tax were only a handful so because zuffa deemed that all the sponsors have dried up (by actions of their own making mind you) let's now decide that reebook shall be the new sponsor for all ufc apparel and oh you can't have any others. Absolutely retarded, seems very totalitarian like

Meh the deal maybe funny to the newer fighters for sure. But I'm not even mad at him for going to bellator and honing his craft there then maybe going to UFC? He will get a separate deal with reebok if he decides to go to UFC and is a beast following his potential. Bellator just gotta keep signing all these guys with potential.

Might sound silly but I don't even see what the ufc gains from this deal, so some of the fighters will be models shilling reebook gear in ads and stores, ok cool but a faceless model can do that and it won't make them famous. Is reebook even still relevant

Who really wins from this deal other than Reebok? The fighters, managers, MMA brands & to an extent the UFC are all on the losing side of this deal.

Reebok had a jersey deal with NFL that just recently ended. They are still very relevant. Every "major" sport has a "clothing" sponsor behind it. This is a move that UFC is initiating to the sports world to try to make themselves seem more serious. As far the the pay scale goes. Every major sport has their fight with getting paid as well. UFC fighters need to get a union to better negotiate their pay.

UFC lacks the marketing skills currently to make house hold names. But they have been very aggressive in making their brand a serious sport. For us true mma fans it seems like a water down product because their cards are very thin. But this is all to make a statement to show that the public wants to watch the UFC and since the casual fan doesn't know what's going on and who is who they are entertained instead of disappointed. The constant injuries tho are unexplainable and unacceptable.
