never heard of Ruth till the news of his signing but I do know from history only a handful of fighters that primarily use wrestling end up being entertaining "complete" fighters

Who's to say once he develops into a complete MMA fighter, he'll primarily use his wrestling.

5/8 of the champs come from a wrestling background. It's arguably the best base to have for MMA.

You aren't inventing abbotts with that comment, and having a wrestling background and primarily using wrestling aren't necessarily the same thing but whatever

Being a high level college wrestler generally equals to success in MMA (or at least some success).

Islam Makhachev, he's a combat sambo champ from Khabib's camp in Dagestan. From the fights I've seen he looks legit. His first fight in the UFC is on the under card at UFC 187.
