first round he snuffed the hell out of Weidman, had that boy out there shytting bricks. second round he kept screaming at Weidman to throw his hands, but really he was just baiting him so he could do his usual matrix and make a highlight reel. Silva got too cocky tho.

.
I can't find the quote, but I remember Weidman admitting Silva was getting in his head. I also noticed Weidman seemed to be missing a lot of shots too.

45 events in one 2015 is just too much. I say what, 5 events in July? Damn!

Does anyone know why the UFC is playing this strategy? I hate to go back to the UFC 177 card, but damn...there are guys main eventing fight nights that I've never heard of, and I've been a die hard fan of the sport since the 90's and I participate in it. If I can't keep up with all of these events, how the hell does the regular person keep up with them?

Agreed. I had a post a while back on the amount of events the UFC should have imo:

''If the UFC had 7-8 PPVs (instead of 12-13 PPV events) with (their usual) 4 FOX cards and some free cards sprinkled in there, the events would be stacked. Especially, if the fighters can stay healthy (Pettis, Cain, etc). Right now, it seems like we have a fight card every week.''

I sort of feel like the UFC has reached its peak here in America. maybe not in other markets, but it really seems like all the big stars are either gone, on their way out, or injured. The UFC needs a better system for finding the next crop of legit stars than TUF. I think that's a big problem right there. The way the current system works is flawed. Other sports have systems in place to guarantee the next group of stars.

In MMA you get one breakthrough guy that gets to the top, then they get the money to actually train like a legit pro athlete. Meanwhile their opponents often have to teach classes at their gyms on the side to make ends meet. Very few of these fighters have the money and resources to actually train, eat, and sleep like pro athletes. Also we all know the judging needs to be overhauled, etc.

Not trying to be a downer. I want to be excited about the UFC in 2015. It's just hard, outside of a few fighters.

The UFC has definitely plateaued in the US [and even Canada, which was a huge MMA market]. I remember when the average UFC card would generate 600-700k buys. Nowadays, it's more like 300k.

The UFC needs to do a better job of promoting the fighters. Currently, they put way too much emphasis on the UFC brand.

It's going to be a little difficult for the UFC to consistently find stars. The sport needs to grow and fighter pay needs to go up. Right now, no top athlete is going to choose MMA over other major sports. Plus MMA training is expensive and a lot of people are not down to get kicked, punched, choked, etc. for a living.

On the bright side, the rest of this year and 2015 is looking good so far. We have a good number of solid fights coming up.

The whole UFC platform/presentation is stale and needs an overhaul imo. I noticed it drastically watching 180 and bellator side by side. I know Bellator gets a little silly and may turn purist off, but its entertaining. They had packages letting you know about the fighters. They highlight the fighters personality. The matchmaking is great. Match a striker with a striker let then bang. Not some wrestle humper against a stand up fighter or two grapplers who neutralize each other thus resulting in a boring ugly kick boxing match. The UFC has too many fighters. Their buildup and tv promos to big PPV events are tired. Their shows are all follow the same with an intro clip, that god awful, outdated face the pain song, and fight after fight. No vingette, no pre clips. And they wonder why ppl don't care about half their guys. They really don't even let half their fighters shine either. Bethe Correia wanted to come out to ric flair theme to play up her feud with the 4 horsewomen and the UFC denied it :mindblown: Also, I've said it before and I will say it again, but Dana needs to fall back. He places way too much emphasis on himself, with his blogs and specials focusing a lot on him and not on fighters. Look at that past press conference. He got more questions then everyone outside Silva and Connor. I understand hes a promoter but hes straight Diddy status

people been saying that for years but his fukking ego won't allow him to shut the fuk up and stay out the spotlight.

call me crazy but, i really expect a turn around for bellator in 2015. I truly believe Coker isn't gonna fuk this opportunity up 2nd time around especially with the budget viacom is giving him. coker has always put on entertaining card going back to the strikeforce days and unlike dana he's always had a good relationship with the fighters. rarely do you hear fighters talk bad about him.
