Notes
Delance: I'm going to elaborate a little more on my Crystal Ball to Michigan for Top100 offensive tackle
Jean Delance as he heads towards his decision on Saturday.
I originally did not plan to put in a prediction for Delance because things have been really close with him according to those on the Michigan side of things. However, on Tuesday morning (literally as I was writing my notes for that day), I got a message from a great source saying that Delance had told a couple people close to him that he was going to commit to Michigan on Saturday. Just to cover the bases, I checked with a few more people and got confirmation from one other of something very similar.
That's information I am going to Crystal Ball on every time. In fact, a lot of times, you don't really get stuff that concrete before making a prediction.
It hasn't been publicly said, but it's easy to read between the lines to realize that his family is going to try to push him to stay home. These situations can go either way, but from my experience said player usually ends up signing with the school that they, not their family, wants to go to. That's the second part of why I put in the prediction. It's not a Crystal Ball I am super confident in just because of the family angle, but it's information I'll go on every time.
Hudson: Michigan will host McKeesport (PA) ATH
Khaleke Hudson will take his official visit to Michigan on January 15th. Michigan has a few more weeks to develop their recruiting board to see where exactly he is on their board.
He's currently in California for the Semper Fidelis All-American game, and in catching up with two different people covering the game, one believes he will end up at Penn State and the other believes he likes Michigan the most.
It's believed that Hudson tried committing to Penn State in the past but was held off. Will it come back to bite the Nittany Lions, who would definitely take him as of now? Possibly, as Michigan appears to be trending upwards in his recruitment.
Commits on Gary: Michigan's commitments continue to comment on
Rashan Gary and the Wolverines' eventual chances with the #1 overall player in the 2016 class.
Offensive tackle
Ben Bredeson has matched up against Gary all week and has been more than impressed with what he's done and decided to keep the recruiting to a minimum.
"He's a freak," Bredeson told Wolverine247 on Wednesday night. "He's so damn good. It's been a real challenge. I'm trying to think of ways to stop him the rest of this week. As far as recruiting him, I have talked to him about a lot of stuff but not a lot about Michigan and recruiting. Everyone has been all over him about that stuff. I just told him that he's an amazing player and that I'd like to play with him at Michigan. I think he liked that."
While
Kareem Walker has kept it pretty coy regarding Gary,
Brad Hawkins went the complete opposite route, talking with high confidence about the Wolverines' eventual chances.
"I'm also going after Rashan Gary hard to try and bring him in with us Jersey guys," Hawkins told 247Sports analyst Alex Gleitman on Tuesday. "Our recruiting class is already up there in the rankings, but we're just trying to get it to the top, and he'd be a big help. I think it's 100-percent we get him."
100%? We're not going that far, but Michigan looks to remain in strong shape for the game-changing defensive lineman.
Bits
- One reader discussed this possibility, and I confirmed that it's the likely angle: Michigan will probably push for the potential Rashan Gary unofficial visit during the weekend of January 29th heading into National Signing Day. I also believe this would be the weekend top ATH target
Jordan Fuller would make his visit to Ann Arbor as well. Michigan will look to close strong.
- The race will be close for Orlando (FL) Oak Ridge four-star
Jonathan Jones. The reason for Notre Dame's surge in his recruitment? We believe it's where his dad prefer he play. Michigan still feels relatively good here, but not as good as they did a while ago.
@Trust Me
- It looks as if the potential to bring former commitment
Victor Viramontes back into the fold is all but dead. He is set on being recruited primarily as a quarterback, and Cal looks to be the most likely spot for his next destination.
- Ellenwood (GA) Cedar Grove three-star LB
Elysee Mbem-Bosse is a name we've barely covered. He told me last week he will take an official visit to Michigan before ending his process. He delayed his commitment to take this official, so he may be someone to watch if the Wolverines begin to feel like both of
Dontavious Jackson and the aforementioned Jones may end up elsewhere.
