TRENDING DOWN
Linebackers: It was a rough night for Desmond Morgan, Joe Bolden, James Ross and company. There were missed tackles and scattershot moments; missed assignments and blown coverage. It happened early and often across the board. Ross spent the night at the buck position, while Ross Jenkins-Stone was unexpectedly out of action for most of the night. The linebackers' troubles were just a microcosm to a larger issue ...
The Michigan defense: Look, the Michigan defense did enough to win the game and delivered when it counted — keeping Minnesota from gaining 1 last yard — but by the vaunted standard that's been established by the U-M defense, this was perhaps the worst performance of the season by the country's top-ranked unit. The Gophers gained 461 yards and Mitch Leidner looked like a superstar, racking up 317 yards through the air and rushing for an additional 37, including a 24-yard touchdown. Leidner kept the Wolverines guessing at times and it was obvious that the Michigan defense was on its heels — including a secondary that missed a number of turnover opportunities. All that said, though, the defense made two game-winning plays: The stuff at the goal line and the sack of Leidner leading to the punt that produced what would be the game-winning touchdown.
De'Veon Smith and the Michigan running game: The Wolverines starting tailback was never able to get moving. He posted 15 yards on nine carries and didn't have a rush over 5 yards. His lack of effectiveness was evident by Johnson's increased carries and an expanded role for Peppers in the backfield. This marked the second week in a row that U-M had no discernable threat produced by the running game.
Plz stay healthy Drake any incoming LB's please know there's plenty of PT available I would like a pass rushing DE also
