Chip Lindsey did what he could at UNC with limited talent. The one weapon he had was Omarion Hampton and in two seasons with Lindsey as OC, he ran for over 3,000 yards and had 30 touchdowns.
We needed more balance, and from the looks at all of his stops, we're gonna get that. The times I watched UNC play on tv, they were fun to watch :yeshrug:

The second reason sources say Moore wasn't all aboard the Candle train was Lindsey had reportedly crushed his interview, his ability to expand the offense seemed just as promising if not more so, and Lindsey would bring the element of a more proven quarterback developer on paper. And deeper inspection of that element could be the separator in his favor.

And then came the call that sources say may have helped put Lindsey over the top.

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye phoned Moore to stand on the table for his former position coach/coordinator. Sources say the no.3 pick in the 2024 NFL draft made it clear that he would have not been in that position had it not been for Lindsey. And that's despite a cursory glance at his 2023 statistics suggesting otherwise.

Here's the comparison in question

Under Phil Longo's Air Raid attack in 2022, in 14 games Maye completed 342/517 passes (66.2%) for 4,321 yards for 38 touchdowns and just seven interceptions, and had a passer rating of 157.9.

Under Chip Lindsey in 2023, in 12 games Maye completed 269/425 passes (63.3%) for 3,608 yards for 24 touchdowns and nine interceptions, and had a passer rating of 157.9.

Maye's statistics were down relatively speaking, but sources say he told Moore he was a MUCH better quarterback after the 23 season thanks to Lindsey, and MUCH more ready for the pros. He spelled out how Lindsey had almost taught him from ground up whole-field progression reading, and took his ability to reading coverages to another level entirely. (I'll have more on this from Borges in a piece later tonight). There were other factors that affected the dip in Maye's numbers like his top two receivers and one of his offensive tackles being drafted to the pros, but that was beside the point he was making.

His point was simple. Ignore the numbers. Lindsey made him a much better quarterback, and he'd do the same for Michigan's quarterbacks, too. Not to mention what he'd do for the offense.

I don't know if that put Lindsey over the top, but it sure as hell didn't hurt his chances.

Hell if we had a QB who put Maye # his last season well be top 4 rn :mjlol: . I still can't believe the QB room was that bad:scusthov:. No way we lose to Illinois, IU, or UW(secondary got carved up 1st half adjusted the 2nd) with decent QB play. During the Illinois games Danielson was in disbelief how bad Tuttle was:wow::scusthov::mjlol::mjlol:

It’s really crazy b. I was at the Oregon game in person like if we had a QB these boys not invincible. Even the Texas game if we had any semblance of offense.

I still think we lose both especially Texas Sark outcoached Wink. Our lack of depth on defense hurt on the Dline plus they picked on Hill crazy. Oregon carved us up until the 2nd half that stupid special teams penalty killed any real hope we had. 10-2 at worst even with below average WR's. Looking back on the season it's crazy how much the offense put so much stress on the defense to be consistently great. Wink was somewhat of a problem the 1st half of the season 2nd half he was much better. Less mad scientist stuff more being simple let the kids play. Will injury helped Berry develop into a decent corner moved Makari closer to the box in nickel. Even the LB's improved just no offense:francis:

I’m on board the Lindsey train. He’s got a track record of success.

The only thing I’m weary of is the UNC fan base claimed some shyt that I thought was somewhat out of left field. They claimed that dude has a knack for trick plays inside the red zone that usually ends up blowing up in his face. Having to settle for field goals all the time. And his insistence on rushing into the teeth of a defense, only to end up in 3rd and longs all the time. Now all of this shyt seemed like nitpicking by a jaded fan base that just lost a pretty good OC.

And then I tuned on UNC highlights from this past year. And I’ll be damned if everything they claimed wasn’t true. 🤦🏻‍♂️

On the flip side.. this years team’s QB couldn’t throw for shyt. It was damn near Orji in Carolina Blue.

So I tuned into highlight from LAST year.. with Drake Maye under center, and it was night and day. The play calling was fire and they had weapons. I’m choosing to believe they lost a bunch from the 2023 squad.

All in all.. I’m down to let him cook. Let’s see where it goes.

We probably still lose, but not like that. I also feel like Will would’ve played.
