Imagine if Grant Newsome never got hurt
Imagine if Grant Newsome never got hurt
Well, I get that, but at some point it's not about a player or their morale...Harbaugh's just trying to keep O'Korn upbeat and positive. Stevie Wonder can see that he's not getting it done out there. He's not dumb.
If we lose Saturday I think the Peters era begins against Rutgers. O'Korn is a one read QB. Never looks at his second and third options when passing
Speights back next year right?O Korn is done after this year and he is terrible
fukk is the point of still playing him
Speights back next year right?
Walker looked good in his only carry. Looked explosive. He can be, but he graduates. Word is, Harbaugh's gonna shake the kids hand and send him on his way. He'll play somewhere else next year. Maybe even UCLA since Rosen is gone and DTR wont be ready.
Walker looked good in his only carry. Looked explosive.
Higdon was rolling, was random as hell though that 1 carry thoughI guess he got too many yards on his only carry.
Harbuagh likes to pound the defense into submission.
Too many yards = a negative apparently
Harbaugh is denial
Jim Harbaugh: Blaming QB for Michigan's struggles 'low-hanging fruit'
Jim Harbaugh did his best Wednesday to push back against critics who want to pin all of Michigan's troubles on the quarterback.
Appearing this morning on WXYT FM-97.1 in Detroit, the Michigan football coach said placing blame solely on John O'Korn for the offense's struggles was akin to to picking "low-hanging fruit" off a tree.
And he used his successful field-goal unit as an example.
"Quinn Nordin is doing a great job, and he is," Harbaugh told the "Jamie and Stoney" show. "He's doing a fantastic job. He's playing so well, so focused.
"You just break down what it takes to have a successful field goal. I mean, the snap has to be good. ... The holder has been money. ... The protection - if you don't have protection, there's players two or three yards into your backfield."
The same applies to the quarterback, Harbaugh says. O'Korn surely isn't excused from the mistakes: in the five games he's played in, he's 45 for 82 for 563 yards, one touchdown and has thrown four interceptions. :Mindbaugh:
"If that's the case with a field-goal unit, imagine what it's like in an offensive unit," Harbaugh said. "I think it's the low-hanging fruit to say, 'It's the quarterback. It's the quarterback. It's the quarterback.'
"He's either making the field goal or missing it, but it's far more complex than that."
Harbaugh continues to stand by his O'Korn, a fifth-year senior, who took over at quarterback three games ago for the injured Wilton Speight. He praised his game management against Indiana, emphasizing O'Korn's turnover-free game and the zero sacks allowed by the offensive line.
Still, calls have grown louder for Harbaugh to play redshirt freshman Brandon Peters. Peters played a handful of snaps -- and completed a pass -- last month in the win at Purdue, but has little actual game experience.
Meanwhile, Michigan plays at No. 2 Penn State on Saturday (7:30 p.m., ABC) in a pivotal, season-altering showdown.
"The guy that trots out there to play quarterback is the guy the ball club thinks puts us in the best position to win," Harbaugh said. "That takes nothing away from Brandon Peters. Brandon Peters is doing a fine job. That's the facts. They're stubborn.
