I didn't expect Don Brown's defense to give up that many yards and that many points, but as of now, that's an aberration. There are too many variables at play to make me think it happens again this season. It was a road game against a top 5 team, who was coming off a bye week and possessed the best QB-RB tandem in the country. Nobody else is built like that, but McCray will be taken advantage off going forward.
Say whatever you want about McSorely, but Joe Moorhead puts him in the best position to succeed. O'Korn had to make much more difficult reads than McSorely despite facing an inferior defensive unit.
In any case, most forecasts had us winning around 9-3/8-4 and we're certainly trending in that direction. We aren't at the point where we can just reload because haven't gotten to the point where our offense has been good enough to compete. When you have to take 2 transfer QBs and have been looking for grad transfers at offensive line for 2 years, then you're not there as a program.
Next year is Harbaugh's 4th year and his first recruiting class will be seniors; for me, that's when things will start to crystallize. Also, I have a hard time believing there won't be a shake-up with the offensive staff. We're a cash-flush university, we can eat a few salaries if it means better results.
