The competetion in offseason was legit. The coaching staff was very impressed with Wilton going to CA still on the mend and working with other top qb's and coaches in country. When the team returned from Rome it was all still up in the air. They rolled the balls out and Speight was the top choice. However, only by the smallest margin over o'korn. Don't forget O'korn best friend is Jake Rudock who is around the team on a monthly basis and also speaks to JOK and coach weekly. We all know one thing with coach and that is he's a very loyal guy. This upset Peters and although he may not be a very local guy, his father is not as quiet. (Any of you who were around the team the past 5 years think Morris' father, maybe worse).
Peters is your quasi great practice guy. Wins all the drills, most accurate, and so on. However most the time it's against the 2's or 3's, and when the lights come on it's not always the same precision (full pad scrimmage). With all that being said, the past 3 weeks you can see him getting more engaged. Last Wednesday him and coach Pep were working together for over 2 hours and in film he's coming along as well. I firmly believe we will see Peters versus Rutgers and Maryland at a min. The coaches need to see for themselves if he's one of these kids who just has a lightbulb go off and preform their best on the biggest stage. A very rare occurance, but something that they need to find out, and the only way that happens is getting him into real game snaps. The coaches know this, they also thought if they coach up Speight and Okorn and they preform we have a chance at being in the playoff with this defense. Either way, from what I understand the line has been drawn in the sand. If Dmac is in front of Peters on depth chart next year, and WS on the team Brandon will leave, and most likely with a degree, and be eligible immedately. I highly doubt it, but some of my friends think coach shakes Wilton hand at end of the season as well. In that scenario I believe BP stays whether he's the one or the two based on their commitment in letting Wilton go. Lastly, PSU under the lights is no place to roll out Peters. Malzone is behind Dmac, so anyone asking he will be graduating in Spring and not back next year. Go Blue beat PSU! In coach I trust“
