Fake News Jamie Edmonds weekend lady from failing WDIV comes with the sheer bullshyt. Zero percent chance of Harbaugh of all people planning a 2 qb system, or letting it leak out. Not to mention that's a shyt idea.

That doesn't sound like Harbaugh AT ALL.. but one can hope.

I always found it hard to believe Peters would start vs Florida just because of the talent they have. I can see Speight being on a short leash like @Ed MOTHERfukkING G said.

That or a freshman throwing to freshmen with 3 freshmen blocking for him?
I'll take that if it means additional growth heading into 2018. If Speight hasn't made much improvement, which is what it sounds like, we know how this story plays out.

We compete against Ohio State 365 days a year in recruiting and wins & losses is a major factor. Willing to take that chance?

At the time he got hurt against Iowa he was first team all big ten.
Okay...he was still being bailed out by the WRs, and harbaugh did a eat job at covering his faults.

He doesnt suck. But we have seen his ceiling. If you havent rewatched those two games, i strongly recommend it...he overthrew A LOT of tds. I am fine with him starting if harbaugh thinks its best coming out of camp...as long as peters is ready and harbaugh makes the call before its too late

Michigan QB Battle

I think this is baloney. I’ve talked a few sources at Michigan and this is a non-starter. Michigan will not rotate QB’s while Harbaugh decides who is the starter.

There is absolutely zero chance that Jim Harbaugh and Pep Hamilton will start the season without a clear number one. I don’t think the winner of the QB battle will take every snap, but there will be a clear number one when Michigan takes on Florida in Dallas.

From what I am told, there is a legit QB battle, but it’s Wilton Speight’s gig to lose, he’s the front runner and unless he proves that he cannot handle the job, he’ll be under center when the season starts.

A lot of Michigan fans are Trump-like when they see mainstream media attempt to discuss Wolverine football and for good reason, many simply do not have good sources inside fort Shembechler. Unless you have a solid source, it is best NOT to attempt to report news regarding Michigan. I am very hesitant to report most of what I “hear” because I only believe three or four of my sources. It’s a mistake to tweet what you “hear” unless you have long established sources with a track record. I don’t think Jamie Edmonds isn’t a bad reporter, she simply isn’t “hearing” information from the right people, she will learn over time that Michigan has many people who believe they are Wolverine insiders and they aren’t credible. I learned this long ago.

My guys in An Arbor think the competition is legit and all of them believe Speight will emerge as the starter, barring injury he will be the man under center for Michigan unless his performance isn’t up to speed.

Don’t believe what you hear from people who don’t know what they are talking about, believe the people who have given you good information for years.

OSU is the last game of the regular season. A freshman QB with more talent than Speight should be prepared by then. Win that game and any previous losses won't matter this year.

- One name I was passed that is making a move is Sean McKeon. It's a deep tight end group with some big, talented bodies, but Sean has good hands and athleticism. Blocking will be monitored through camp but he's off to a good start.

- Was told Patrick Kugler is off to a solid start as well. Cesar Ruiz continues to see some snaps with the 1's from what I'm told as well, but Kugler playing well.

- Right tackle battle is heating up. Juwan Bushell-Beatty and Jon Runyan are locked in that battle. Nolan Ulizio, I believe, is still in the conversation as well, but from what it sounded like to me, JBB and Runyan are running neck and neck.

Been hoping for a thumper at lb for years and he has arrived: Mr. Bush. Nasty disposition and takes no plays off. K Hudson is another aggressive defender but may not show it as much because of how much he is used to occupy space. With McCray this is a very solid group of backers.

Hurst and Gary are poised for monster years, especially Hurst. These guys are at such a different level than the others that the coaches have to rein them in. Solomon would get similar treatment but he has to pay his freshman penance.

Right now I expect Nate Johnson to be prominent in the return game, assuming he can secure the ball on the regular.

Kinnel and Josh M looked locked in at safety. Should be serviceable especially on the run and blitzes. Don't have much of a feel for their coverage skills.

As of today I see Crawford as being a featured wideout. I also expect K Hill to be featured more in the passing game. DPJ and Collins just have to see game action. Black's head is spinning, though there is no denying his talent. Don't hear much about McDoom.

All indications are that Speight will start, but there isn't much separation in doing what Pep wants them to do. They all can throw it for the most part. Just not much variety in their skill sets.

Big Mike is hard to gauge. Still big but needs to move better. Ruiz will play a lot of football at UM and probably soon unless some other guys emerge. A special talent.

Among the rbs, there is first a group of 3; Evans, Higdon and Isaac. And again not a great deal of separation. But unlike some other player groups, the lack of separation is a good thing. Yes I'm saying that Isaac presents as a different guy, maybe approaching the player he was projected to be coming out of high school.

Can't get a feel for who will get the minutes at corner as they shuffle guys in and out so much. Both Thomas and Hill are light, though speedy.

Not as concerned with losing Ken Allen as I was a couple months ago.

Kemp and Hudson get a lot of mentions.

Team has more athleticism than any other under Harbaugh. Guys who can run and make plays in spades. Just so young.

:ehh:BT Qb play was not very good last season but overall I see your point.I'm not one of those its all Speight fault types our o-line last year was horrible against any defense with a pulse. No running game whatsoever against any team with a talented front 7.But at the same time Speight needs to show improvement. He's had a year of starting has to have better consistency then what he showed last season.Time to step up this season or let the young kid take over:hubie:

Rashan Gary and Mo Hurst have looked like everyone expects them to look, so I’ll spend most of this short report on other guys I heard have stood out thus far.

One of the first names mentioned was sophomore linebacker Devin Bush. The talented youngster has really been coming on. In one late week practice registered a pick, and a sack, and continued to look like one of the most physical players on defense. He just has a much better understanding of the defense and looks like he is going to be a lethal blitzer.

Bryan Mone is looking like the pre-injury Mone… the guy they saw when he was rated the third best player on the roster. He was never 100% last year and it showed. He not just a space eater. Right now he is making plays.:rudy:

When it comes to the young guys it’s pretty clear that Aubrey Solomon is going to factor in for Michigan on the inside this year. It’s a little more up in the air after that. I’d thought the next most likely inside guy to contribute on the interior was/is James Hudson. That may wind up being the case, but I no longer believe that is most likely case. Donovan Jeter has really come. He is u to 290 now and word is they’ve kicked him inside to 3-tech.

The corner position being up in the air isn’t just coach speak. Thus far I’m hearing David Long, LaVert Hill and Brandon Watson rotating with the top group, but Ambry Thomas is looking like he could factor into the mix.

Khaleke Hudson picked up right where he left off in the spring. Like Bush, there was a lot of late week buzz about how physical he was in the run game. “He has found his home” at VIPER. I get the feeling that the coverage responsibilities there suit him better. That was a revelation in the spring and it has carried over to the fall.

The quarterback battle is indeed a battle, but any suggestion that Wilton Speight continued to cede ground to the competition in week one is wrong. Talk of a plan to start Wilton in week one and Brandon Peters after that is absolutely false.

The receiver whose name I heard first when asking about standouts was Tarik Black.

More in the coming days.

The following notes are from umbig11:

Typical fall camp with things swirling a bit with every rep being graded.

Confirmed starters at WR1 Crawford, WR2 Black, Slot Perry….DPJ then Collins

Two QB reports that vary. One says Speight gave up some of his lead/ground to Peters after week 1 evaluations. Today’s report says Speight back in charge. Looks like typical camp comments to me.

Higdon has taken over RB1, Evans, then Isaac. No other backs pushing for snaps.

Running with the 1’s:

Offense:

QB Speight, some Peters and some O’Korn
RB: Higdon/Evans, some Isaac (Higdon leads)
FB: Hill
TE: Bunting, then a host of others (McKeon/Gentry/Wheatley etc)
LT: Cole (locked)
LG: Bredeson (locked)
C: Kugler/Ruiz (thin lead for Kugler)
RG: Onwenu/Ruiz (slight lead for Onwenu)
RT: JBB/Runyan, then Ulizio

Defense:

DE: Gary/Kemp (Gary owns it; Kemp is a stud!)
NT: Mone/Solomon (Mone leads)
DT: Hurst/Dwumfour (high praise for Dwumfour, but behind a star)
DE: Winovich/Jeter (All Chase)
LB: McCray (fantastic leader and excellent fall camp)
LB: Bush (Huge hitter)
CB: Hill (host of others; thin lead)
CB: Long
S: Kinnel
S: Metellus
Viper: Hudson (zero competition)

Lots of talk about Collins in the top 5 at WR. Watson and Thomas pushing the CB’s
Nate Johnson will be a return specialist.
McDoom is losing ground to the Fr
High praise for Dwumfour, Solomon, and Jeter.
Speight lost some ground to Peters after evaluating week one.
Exit PWO Simeon Smith
Higdon may steal RB1
No worries in the kicking game; figuring out the return men a priority (Johnson will return punts)
Don’t sleep on Furbush or Woods to see plenty of action.
