Brehs, this is a fantastic idea. Kinda make it like the coli’s own dojo. We can use resources from other parts of the forum to help ourselves and each other in our projects. I’m sure there’s a thread for most of the endeavors people are pursuing. Perhaps this new sub forum can like y’all said, be a place for positive development.

My order of 8 copies made it to the store at long last. I just stared at that shyt for a minute or two.....:mjcry:

I have terrible tunnel vision. I tend to focus on what's directly in front of me, and only on that. (Working in DC tends to exacerbate that.) Unless they were really close colleagues, I'd never greet anyone, even those I'd see on a semi-regular basis.

These last few weeks, I'm saying hi to pretty much everyone I see...well, let me back up. I try to have what I call a positive encounter with everyone I come across, stranger, colleague, or whomever else. Whether it's a vocal greeting or something as simple as eye contact and a small smile/nod, I'm making the effort to make that brief connection, however quick it is.

It's definitely not something I'm used to - you have to understand that this is far, far out of my personal comfort zone - but the way I see it, our society can use a lot more "nice" these days, so I'm trying to do my (very) small part.

And, like the end of his quote in my sig, I'd never done that before, wasn't even sure if I had it in me, but why not try and see what happens? And funny that, the reaction/response has been fully positive. Three people have actually thanked me - basically along the lines of "I really needed to see a smile today."

I'm even walking/standing more upright, and I don't think that that's coincidence. There's just a general confidence - maybe even fearlessness - I feel now when I'm out and about...it's hard to describe, but I'm aware of it, and I think others notice it, too. Probably just goes back to being determined to project positivity, to whom/where/whenever.

Breh, especially in a city like DC where so many people feel so fukkin important this is such a good thing to do. I’ve also been working on my posture too. It’s easier said than done when it comes to remembering good posture but it’s also such a great feeling to stand at your true height.

I’m such an outgoing person at times that people are thrown off when I’m in a bad mood. And to that, I’m doing more to try to stay consistent even when I’m down. Something Kobe said resonated with me, if he had it in him to do this that and the third for grown ups then I should also make myself available to the kids when they want to play or read or ask questions. If the world seeks you, open your door I guess.

Goals: To become fluent in Spanish using Youtube, apps (any recommendations?) and some reading.
And become a full time DevSecOps engineer in work.
Improve sleep routine, and wake early in the morning for the gym.

Duolingo is great imo. I use it just about every day. I also try to listen to different musicians in Spanish or watch shows like Narcos. When I had cable I would watch Univision in the mornings. Fun yet creepy fact, if you watch enough Spanish speaking TV you’ll start to see Spanish commercials on the English speaking channels. :ld:

That’s good shyt tho. I’m considering CyOps too but I want to know Cloud/AWS first so I can hybridize my skills to both Network and Cloud environments. I’m trying to make myself a true 6 figure 6 cert breh. You should definitely do morning runs in the gym tho, way fresher and it makes the rest of your day amazing. Especially if you find the time to fit that and Yoga in.

If you need help creating a schedule let the brehs know. I’m actually finishing up creating a full blown schedule of self improvement for myself that I’m gonna share in here soon. One of the best ways we can help each other imo is show ways in which we are organizing our activities.

What y’all day lookin like today? Just did some drawing practice, 30 Mins of Audible, Spanish/Portuguese practice, left hand writing practice, and did my old writing exercises of writing a random page as soon as I wake up, and then copying words out of the Dictionary and Rhyming Dictionary respectively.

Bout to do some piano scale exercises and then get started on some IT studying.

GOAT Thread :wow:

Edit: Here’s what I’m up to:

1. Making the best of this Corona Situation by cooking my own meals, saving cash from not eating out, improving my health, cancelling any subscriptions that I don’t use and generally trying to live cheap and save money. Still using an iPhone 7 from 3 years ago, wanted to upgrade but holding off to get as much juice out of this one

2. Spending less time on Coli, social media, etc.

:whoa:

:whoa:

Will be back for the playoffs

3. Becoming more assertive in the workplace, not letting scrubs like draymond walk all over me

4. Working on my own website - got myself a plan and got a breh from school whose an IT whiz, will take a couple of years of work, but trying to put an hour each day after work into it at least. Did 4 hours today, feeling good about it

Gotta say its hard to keep up the intensity, need to work on that

Thread bump :youngsabo:
