This show is so damn good. The writing is amazing, visuals are stunning, acting is top notch (confident David was almost as unnerving in his own way as shook & scared David playing Rainbow Connection was, and Aubrey Plaza is killing it), and the music fits perfectly.
It's so great how they plucked out and completely re-imagined the concept of this mutant character to examine and play with visualizing mental powers & mental illness in television the same way Claremont & Sienkiewicz used the comics medium to explore the same subject matter by having the New Mutants running around in David's mindscape. It's so on point to the spirit and intent of the original story while being totally and completely its own thing.

Think of the collective unconscious being represented as a physical place that everyone's mind is connected to. Psychics can tap into that plane to access other minds through it, but, also, more powerful psychics can enter into that realm and manipulate it, kind of how a lucid dreamer can take control of their dreams. That's why Oliver can project his own little ice cube place and why David copied that idea for making him & Syd a bedroom to bump & grind in.

shyt is a lot clearer now. Shadow King been leeching off bruh since he was a child. The dog, Lenny, Benny, the angry boy, etc., have all been Shadow King hiding himself to David and manipulating his memories. So he was never really crazy
Thing is, how was other people able to see Lenny in the original mental hospital
She must've actually existed at some point.

. I'm not easily scared from shows, but the Shadow King coming after Syd on the bed like that was 
. Show's visuals have been on point, but tonight I really noticed all the audio things they were doing. Just taking away the groups ability to speak at the end, really added to the horror of the situation.
