Ive done keto several times. I do not recommend it unless you are actually obese or if you can stop yourself from doing it all the time. First time I did it I was in ketosis for about 4 months. Went from 175 lbs to 195 lbs sub 10% bf. It becomes less effective the more you do it and I dont even mess with it any more. I recommend if you feel you need to do it then do it once a year for only 2 months.

There are also several health risks with a diet like this.

If anyone wants me to posts my meals let me know. I ate the exact same thing every single day which kept me around 44 carbs a day

You gained weight? I thought it was for losing weight?

Cardio:
CARDIO should be performed at a low intensity (under 120bpm
heartrate). This will ensure that you use FAT as a fuelsource since as
your heartrate increase, carbohydrates begin to become the preferred
fuel of choice for the body. When on a low carb diet, you're body will
break down muscle and turn that into carbs. Remember, Fat CANNOT be
changed into carbs. Therefore, for bodybuilding, the rule of cardio
should be LONG DURATION, LOW INTENSITY

never do less than 20 min per session

The BOTTOM LINE is that low intensity cardio (while you might need
more of it) ensures that fat is utilized and muscle is spared
(especially while on my high protein/moderate fat/low carb diety).

Do you feel the treadmill is better for cardio, or is the
bike(stationary or recumbent) just as good? As long as the intensity
is LOW, it doesn't matter which piece of equipment you use

Low intensity? I thought weight loss was all about HI workouts...

This is the GOAT cutting diet, it saves muscle while you lose fat. I lost too much weight when I did this the first time. I went from 250 to 160 at 6'2 and I was waaaay to skinny. Now i'm up to 230 :flabbynsick: and im about to start working out seriously again, I will track my progress in a thread... I'm starting aot the gym tonight but my keto diet went like this:

Breakfast:

4 slices of bacon
4 Cheese eggs
2 tablespoons shots of olive oil (disgusting lol)

Lunch:

A breadless burger (2 patties, cheese, and mayo all wrapped with lettuce)
A packet of raw almonds
Spinach salad

Dinner:
Any meat (no homo) that isn't breaded.
Salad with everything on it
2 tablespoons of olive oil

I would snack with cheddar cheese sticks, pepperoni and almonds. I did a "carb load" on the weekend with whatever the fukk I wanted to eat and I lost all of that weight in 6 months with cardio but I didn't lift weights. It's not exactly the correct way to do it but i'm sure someone will post the correct template.
Damn, I don't know if I can eat 4 eggs...what was your workout routine?

Why drink olive oil? :what:

I didn't really workout back then, I was just doing cardio daily which was hard as hell because I didn't have alot of energy at first while in ketosis. I drunk the olive oil to increase my healthy fat consumption but you can take fish oil caps but you have to take too many so I just went ahead and did it that way. On this diet you have to make sure you get in enough fat because your body is running on the fat instead of glucose from eating carbs. So if done correctly you will burn fat but if you eat more protein than fats with low carbs you will start dropping muscle.

Aight, well what was your cardio routine?

And how does this look (made some revisions)

Breakfast:

4 slices of bacon
4 Cheese eggs

Lunch:

A breadless burger (2 patties, cheese, and mayo all wrapped with lettuce)
Spinach salad

Dinner:
Any meat (no homo) that isn't breaded.
Salad with everything on it

^^^Basically, I took out the almonds and olive oil, I hate almonds or any other kind of nut

Can I replace it with a hotdog or something?

Is it necessary to drink the olive oil, I've drank it straight once before for a kidney stone and it is NASTY :sadcam:

I was just doing a steady 2 mile jog around the track every evening. The plan looks good and the hotdog (no bread) is fine if you get hungry. Just read a few keto articles for recipes and just to tighten the diet up as you see fit. Now don't forget to switch the meals up because this diet can get old really quick. If you get a sweet tooth you can use the sugar free ice cream bars very sparingly but I used to just make a float out of Coke Zero and Cool Whip.

With the weekend carb up don't go too crazy. The correct thing to do is eat healthy carbs for a couple days but people rarely follow that. Saturday I would do my clubbing and eat what I wanted but on Sunday's I would just eat normal healthy meals.

If you want to lift weights with it, you're going to have to look into keto pre and post workout meals. I never lifted while on the diet so I really don't know how it works.

You obviously already think Im wrong but dipping into ketosis too long poses tons of risks. Development of diabetes being the most common.

To the guy who asked how I gained weight...keto diets are for losing fat, which I did. My weight increased while my body fat decreased. It is a great diet if you do it safely.

Imma have to call :duck: on this one bruh with the info given.

You lost fat in ketosis for 4 months and a netting a 20lb weight gain? Nevermind that ketosis is a horrible anabolic environment. Nevermind there being no mention of refeeds. You're saying you gained over 20lbs of lean mass here... in 4 months...

So what cycle were you on :shaq:

Preciate the into, where I work out at is an elliptical, bicycle, and treadmill...

Somebody was saying earlier about low intensity workouts only with cardio, would you agree with that?

Honestly you won't really have the energy to do high intensity cardio and if you did, I wouldn't do it.

Are you not lifting weights right now? If so incorporate a lifting routine of your choice with it just make sure to get your major body parts and do alot of compound lifts the Monday after your carb up. I regret not lifting while I was on the diet because I could have looked alot better. As a matter of fact, I was going to start working out tonight but I for got I had to go to my second job. I'm going to go back on Keto for a couple of months to kick start my journey of getting back into shape. I'm gonna be tracking my progress with a thread... Sh1t will be dope because this diet works well.
