Negotiations should have never played out publicly. It's bad optics. Especially if things dont go your way. Deals fall though all the time but publicly burning bridges as if a potential compromise or renegotiation couldn't take place down the line seems short sighted.

Podcast will still be on Spotify, just not exclusively. I truly wish these boys the best.

Some of y’all so quick to jump on budden defense you don’t actually see this is a pattern.

They don’t gotta go on vacation together, like someone above said all they gotta do is shoot evergreen episodes or split the guest episodes like how they did the benny episode. Most of them aren’t going on vacation for more than 7 days to begin with. Like normal people you pick out the weeks in a year you wanna take off, agree on that and shooter additional episodes to air during those weeks, it’s what ever major tv show does even everyday struggle has done it.

Sorry, but at the end of the day it’s joe and his friends sitting on couch talking about pop culture and music for not even 8 hours a week, shyt they do anyway and have done for free for years. I can’t rock with joe once again getting into his ego and turning down another bag for these petty reasons. Once you’re a boss like he is, you gotta watch out for your people, they could have all been millionaires.

Even if they took the idea they were talking about earlier about a smaller artist releasing along with beyonce, that the smaller artist will get more streams just being next to her on the homepage. Can’t the same be said for them? That being next to Michelle and rogan will boost their popularity? Now they are gonna go rogue again with no chance at repairing this relationship.

Of course, joe can prove me wrong.

Having the number one podcast on the platform is worth something if they are signing other pods to compare and contrast your valuation. Business is business. If they really have the number one podcast then they need to be compensated appropriately.

Now without knowing what those other pods gave up as far as rights and licensing then maybe they don't get the big bag like how some of those other podcast where mentioned. Maybe they retain half their rights and only get half the check and get their full licensing back when the contract is up. Maybe instead of one show per week they need to do two shows so they are more opportunities for ad placement and Spotify to make their money back.

Like Joe said its thirty plus data points for them to make money with or without Spotify. Any entity should be compensated as such if they have the clout to call the shot.
