I haven’t got to that part but Spotify has way more analytical data on the pod than they would let Joe in on. They know if pod is thriving or tailing off, they know if people are fast forwarding through a lot of the pod, they know if people are sticking around Spotify after the show.
Joe bloviating and talking shyt as per usual.

I love his conflating of what black people suffer through to his entertainment struggle.

Blue check and celebs do that shyt all the time.

I love the show but it ain't that serious Joe. It really ain't we got bigger issues to feel aggrieved and angry about.

Angie Martinez briefly calls in by surprise @1:03:00.............coincidence that she calls in the week of the Paddy Duke fallout??
:patrice:

After the call, Joe says he didn't want to ask her about Paddy Duke out of nowhere publicly on that quick call.

Joe did the same thing when he was complaining that Complex wouldn’t give him days off and how he fought for Friday off and they had no place for someone to smoke in the building

CTG told Mal and Ak be careful tying your business to Joe because he tank all business relationships

I think yall man needs to realize he isn't as big as he thinks he is...or his base makes him think. You better take that 8-10 million I assume they're offering for a few years with nothing on the back end and just be happy you can make some nice ass money while only working a couple hours a week...and the work being you just being silly with some other dudes ur cool with. He wouldn't make that in rapping at all.

And without even having any kind of information, I can tell you that that's probably a huge part of why they didn't get what they wanted.

When they announced the deal, the very first thing they had to deal with was a significant portion of their audience complaining about having to pay for Spotify, and having to download Spotify. To this day, there are still plenty of listeners who will tell you that they don't really fukk with Spotify.

So, if you're not signing up for premium, and you're not sticking around to listen to other stuff to get ads rolled in between, you're not a useful listener at all. All this shyt Joe is talking about their volume in listenership means absolutely nothing if most of those listeners aren't ones you can monetize off of.

And you can tell that's their thinking by looking at their recent acquisitions in the podcast space, and I'm not talking about the Joe Rogan or Michelle Obama deals. The acquisitions of Gimlet and the Ringer were based on getting sheer content volume that they can have their fingers in.

The strip club analogy was fukking terrible, because club owners will tell you up front that that packing the club doesn't mean shyt if the people in the club aren't making you money somehow. Basically, the JBP audience was the equivalent of the patron who comes through, doesn't buy many drinks, and maybe gets exactly one table dance before dipping out. It's cool that they're there, but you're not actually making any money off them.

i want to understand what it is that Joe wants exactly. what do you want, and what do you realistically expect...from salary to ownership or whatever?

do you want and expect $900MM because Spotify paid $250MM for Gimlet and whatever other company? you signed the contract for 2 years, so how are you gonna say - "real nyggas would've torn this contract after month one!"

were the raises and bonuses you felt you deserved written into the contract?

Excellent post

and the bolded is so true i was stunned he went with that analogy..

Strip Club owners will look at their bar sales first and foremost they don't give a fukk about a full club whats the bar tab looking like?

Honestly Joe is an idiot. Great show, he's an idiot.
