Yeah . I've been listening since inception. I'm not going to stop listening, but I'm definitely not paying money to listen either. Probably would just catch the YouTube replay.

And I'm assuming they don't have a fallback deal. I can't envision a situation where they decide to go behind a paywall like at Tidal. Maybe Pandora would work. I understand where Joe is coming from because they have driven a good amount of traffic to Spotify, folks even went premium. But it doesn't look like Spotify wanted to come up off that paper. Sucks.

If it’s on another streaming service, it might be good riddance for me. If they upload it on SoundCloud or something else after a while I’ll keep on listening. Some people are alright with watching YouTube videos for hours but I can’t, or I might catch an episode if I’m severely hungover and can’t get out my bed

Why are people assuming, well why did they go audio exclusive in the first place? Safe to say if everything else was the same as when they first signed that they'd sign again, that's just as simple as 2+2.

You don't "strategically" go back to not having a deal. And if Spotify had enough money to secure rights to podcasts from The Ringer, Rogan, Kim K, and Marvel, then they had to have had enough for this pod too right? Or if we study Budden history, nobody ever seemingly has enough for him. "Well he's pushing things forward, he's for the creators", seems like everyone else is doing a better job creating the landscape than him with their deals.

He apparently had one of Spotify's top podcasts when 2019 ended, how does he not have a deal 1 year later? Did numbers decline that much or did he go into negotiations and Budden things like with Complex, where people come out after the fact saying the demands were outrageous?

So yeah it's easy to see why people aren't giving benefit of the doubt.

it's Joe Budden, but honestly they just go played and used by Spotify to draw in bigger names and establish themselves in the podcast game.

It was quite genius they played Joe like a sucker, he can't take his podcast off Spotify because their is an established audience there now unless he wants to rebuild a 3rd time. Thats why you don't go exclusive until you can secure the biggest bag possible.

We agree on not knowing and it's nobody's business but theirs. But I'll add, that's what happens when you don't act like a business and keep business private, you open yourself up to other's interpretation. So it's possible to think they fukked up and still listen to the podcast, it's no different than the fans he picked up on ES that followed him over.

We also agree on anybody complaining but still listening the following week, complaining about the same shyt they just were last week. I actually haven't listened to the pod in months for many of the reasons I'm sure have already been covered. Instead of flooding the thread, they could spend energy doing and listening to shyt they actually like.
