Also, low-key tired of Mel & Ish lil R&B face offs in the sleepers. Damn near preferred when Ish was playin' I Love the Dough as his sleeper(s) and shyt :martin: .

Last pod, Ice actually plays a fire ass YG track, and then Parks follow up like a Kyrie 3 after a Luka one wit' a šŸ”„ ass Juicy J track that damn near knocked my speakers out.....and then I gotta hear whatever lil crystals & sage yah mean hittin' Ish off wit a track dat bring da energy way back down.

Itā€™s more so the general public has no true idea of how the music industry really works rather than the smoke and mirrors pro wrestling shyt thatā€™s sensationalized. Where the reality is this.

Every. Single. Artist. With. A. Budget. Chasing. The. Chartsā€¦ gets reference tracks. Yes even your ā€œrap Godsā€.

Every hit single (even in rap) has been shopped around by the producer and/or a writer to an A&R. The A&R gets the artist to fukk with the recordā€¦ if thereā€™s a feeling of a hit being on their hands plus have the support of the building, then invoices are sent.

If I was Drake Iā€™d start spilling all the tea of everyone else on some Nino Brown shyt.
Nah fukk that
There's footage over DECADES of Wayne in the STUDIO and in the BOOTH coming up with bars and changing words in the BOOTH, listening back and going in to change whole BARS.
I don't doubt Wayne took suggestions because why not.
We know he didn't write Prom Queen and a gang of those Shanell records.
But them BARS come from a real rapper invested in his craft.
This is crazy talk.
In reality I don't think there's a rapper that big that "COLLABORATES" As much as Aubrey does.

How to Love.

Lollipop was framework from Static Major and Wayne filled in the gaps.

One of my best friends works for Sony. I know producers and engineers that work with artists. The process you refer to is for popstars and singers. Hooks and ideas is one thing. Completely biting the song word for word aint respected in hip hop world.

Only reason why the industry is keeping quiet or deflecting for Drake because the industry NEEDS him. Its business at the end of the day.

But artistic integrity especially in hip hop world is another conversation. Its not respected.

I didnā€™t make the rules. :manny:

When I was trying to be an artist, I was briefly being managed by a cat that was managing a producer that was part of a HOT production team (It was a collective of 3 producersā€¦ one ended up getting hot as fish grease and caught a run). This was before it was acceptable for a non street nikka to break out the south with bars. So they had me pivot and write to their beatsā€¦

I had to write FULL joints. Not hooks and bridge snippets. Full joints. And thatā€™s when I was given the game how the shyt works. Itā€™s not just pop and R&B.

ā€œWe recorded 100 joints working on this projectā€ā€¦

If you think these artists are writing all their shyt, youā€™re sadly mistaken.

Itā€™s a cold game. Hindsight being 20/20 I would have stayed as a writer once I fully learned the game rather than trying to be the artist.
