I agree, Parks was going hard to defend it but I feel like any artist that has success for a few years should look for some new or outside production to shake things up a bit and give them a different perspective/style. I think part of the “he got the same flow” criticism is because he’s rapping on similar beats all the time. J. Cole was already successful but I felt like he leveled up notch when he stopped only rapping over his own production and switching it up

Exactly. Any business with employees has to account for attrition. Something like a podcast really isn't different. Eventually, your employees will have the opportunity to find what they perceive to be a better opportunity. Or, put another way, the easiest way to get your people to buy in, is to give them something to buy in to.



That's unfortunate. If you're gonna be that right with the terms, you gotta give them some concessions back somewhere.



I remember laughing hard as shyt at those Bevel, MeUndies (" I NEED MEMONIES!" ), and Better Help ads, but I also know that there was no way that whatever ad rep they were going through was cool with those being the reads.

I dont think the ads reps be caring as long you get their shyt off. Jim Cornette be throwing his in random af with all kinds of fukked up hilarious facts.

This shyt about audio/video moving so quickly and freely is super wack for them cause now you'll have people like Shaderoom just looking for any black man to say a stupid joke and try to make it seem like it wasn't just that. No context, no asking for comment, nothing. Saying stupid and outrageous things have been part of both guy and girl talk comedy since forever.

The whole thing about this pod is that it's supposed to feel like it's a couple of good brehs talking shyt, cracking jokes and covering sports, hiphop and piff

As a public figure you take the good with the bad. If Joe would just lean into who he really is instead of fake pandering he wouldn't have to deflect so much. Also there's no context that would make that joke not nasty.

Him not having ads is most likely the reason spotify didn't give him the deal he wanted. They weren't making any money from Joe's podcast, and he use to talk about how spotify kept pressuring him to use ads when he was under contract with them. And he thinks being ad free is some noble shyt he does for his fans, but I bet the vast majority of listeners would rather listen to ads than pay $25 a month.


Joe thinks he's a genius business man, but it's clear he doesn't know what he's doing.

he's retarded. Especially since that's what a good portion (if not most) podcasts do and it gives the listener incentive to subscribe to the paid patreon, if they really don't want ads. Throw in the bonus eps model (which other podcasts do as well, and he'd be set). He wouldn't and never was no trailblazer...there's a model he could follow though.

yeah, i listen to a few podcasts that crack jokes during their reads, or read them so sarcastically, you know they don't give a fukk about the product..and they continue to get ad spots/reads for future eps

i mean if he doesn't wanna do ads, fine with me. damn near every other podcast i listen to does ads, so the ones that don't have them i prefer they don't have them honestly. Even the ones that joke through their ad reads or have fun with them can be a bit annoying.

Or he could just do what every other podcast does and put the podcast ad free on Patreon. As is right now, the free podcast has been lazy and low effort while the best content is behind a paywall that cost more than Netflix, Hulu, and disney+ put together.
