This nikka Joe and his relationships tho. There would've been way more jokes flying with that bird ass Ayisha Diaz shyt if he didn't point out "that's gang". That and Badass walking in not too long after stepped all over what could've been straight jokes lol.
That's who they was talking about? Man that shyt had me dying, especially when he finally decided to do the voice :mjlol:

Joe is the boss

He's not Savon's boss any more. I get it, but this is an effort outside of Alex's JBP role. I personally would have told Joe he didn't get invited bc of that, but I get it

:mjlol:
It must’ve been a joke though? Or maybe Joe already said he was doing something

Cause that sounds wild

Nah, bc Joe has mentioned that shyt in at least two episodes. He said he's not tight about it, but continues to bring it up

When debating whether R&B is dead you have specify if you’re talking about mainstream and male or female

Female R&B is in better spot than it was 10 years ago

Male R&B is dead in the mainstream and if you listen to the breaking R&B playlist on AM it’s like a 4 to 1 ratio of male to female artist

Let me add, people are not being real if they don’t admit that consumers prefer rap everytime this convo is brought up

Rap made male R&B a niche genre

Joe is 🧢 about Tank. He doesn’t make good albums and no one is playing that

I think beyond that, the anger is that female r&b is no longer controlled like it once was. Diddy, Irv, Dupri, Timbo/Missy, etc all had their artist (or artists) who they were caking off of. Now the game has completely changed, no one cares if you were a "super producer" anymore and the biggest r&b women are largely signed to labels that aren't using a 90s/00s playbook. SZA doesn't have a Diddy telling her exactly what to do or demanding she make a particular style of song (say...a ballad) just because that was hot 15 years ago.

I can sympathize with Diddy on some things...like I'd imagine he's watching SZA's career being fukked up and wondering why these dudes can't manage a woman act properly. But this is the same guy who won't admit he's completely out of touch with the music world now, cannot get an artist to pop to save his life, and is bitter that all these popping artists aren't his to control.

Yep, this was definitely apart of Diddy frustration

I feel Ice making the point that any good R&B won’t even be discovered because it isn’t in demand and Ish point about it’s impossible saying it’s hard for R&B artist to navigate rap artist template as far as how to get noticed were great points in the discussion

Joe was all over the place and ruined the topic by bringing up old artist like Usher and Tank to make points

I don't really listen to much modern r&b outside of a couple artists. Why do you think male r&b is dead? Everything comes back around eventually but is this something that will be dead for years longer, or is it just waiting on the perfect artist. Then again maybe the perfect artists have already come and the problem is they're rappers (Drake). Sort of like that theory that because boxing isn't popular anymore, kids who would have been heavyweight contenders 40 years ago become football players instead, thus keeping boxing dead/reduced.
