Joe just likes to act like the rap game didn’t retire him, but that he chose to become a podcaster cause it’s so much more profitable and wonderful. Not even sure what Joe is trying to argue with this being the "worst time to be a rapper' shyt. His argument isn't making any sense even if there is a point in there somewhere.
I think his point is because it's so easy to make a record now, that it's way more competition and noise for you to cut through. Before in the 90s, even if a rapper was talented, it was still a whole process to even get a record recorded. You needed money for studio time, had to find a producer, then you had to get the song pressed up and then make a bunch of copies. It was time consuming and costly. Now you can literally record an entire album on your iphone and upload it in an hour. It's just so much competition now. Not even counting all the other means of entertainment we have now, it's a different world. Not even sure what Joe is trying to argue with this being the "worst time to be a rapper' shyt. You could hear him coming in towards the end of the yesterday's pod. They got Akademiks on the podcast
Ak getting finessed lolThey got Akademiks on the podcast
Especially odd when the last time they had this discussion everyone including Joe said it's the best time to be a rapper. Due to the fact it's the easiest time to get on and find a lane due to all the money to be made. Also the fact you canNot even sure what Joe is trying to argue with this being the "worst time to be a rapper' shyt. His argument isn't making any sense even if there is a point in there somewhere.

It’s the same shyt he does when he tries to act like the RnB game is such a wonderful place.
Faux psychologist warning but…
Whenever Joe doesn’t believe his own arguments, shyt doesn’t make sense.

blow up w/o a label due to social media.
Yep, like someone said earlier in the thread. If the labels fukking with the numbers and they fake..........why wouldnt they have they artists albums selling 100k? It doesnt make sense for them not to.I'm just listening to the Wed pod and what the hell is Ice and Joe talking about re: 1st week sales?? Did they really get on that platform and say that labels don't care about 1st weeks?? They are being disingenuous about this because some of the ppl they've been championing aren't the "big steppers" they thought they were(Latto, Fivio, etc).
The real conversation should be about how social media relevance can skew artists and their teams idea of how truly popular they are. Coi's most popular songs were on that album that only did 11k, Fivio had Kanye feature and executive produce and couldn't scrape 30k, Latto with all her controversy and features didn't do much better. Now these artists can still build on their singles with some solid promo but let's not act like Columbia, Republic and nem' ain't looking at these numbers frowning.
