That's how I feel.

"Mike Jordan of rap, outside Jay working (J working)
Now watch how quickly I drop 50"

Is one of the illest bars ever. super layered and effortless. Jay was in a crazy bag in that 97-99 era.

Jay was rapping harder on Vol. 3.
Jay rapping prime was from 99 to 02

jay was peak jay z during the BP2 era

Jay was a better rapper in 1999 than 2003 but The Black Album is a better album, by far. Vol 3 is basically that bloated late 90s/early 00s big budget rap album. That's where the I Am comparisons come in, but you can compare it to Kiss The Game Goodbye too. Trendy producers, questionable reaches for radio/hoes, mixed with some hard shyt. I think it's a funny nobody talks about S Carter being a wack track/beat BTW. I think Jay gets away with that shyt in part because of how often he was dropping.

And BTW those hidden bonus tracks Swizz did are WACK.

He blacked out on Hovi Baby. Lol. What u think was his most lyrical album? Like how would u rank his albums lyrically?

His most lyrical joint to me was definitely Reasonable Doubt. Idk how I'd rank all of them, but "The Blueprint"...probably his best album musically, is his worst album lyrically to me.
