There are? Where are these medically peer reviewed writings stating that meat is scientifically not healthy for us? Don't just throw that out there.

I legit don't even know what you mean by this....I think you're in over your head now.

Is Eating Red Meat Bad for Your Health?

:snooze:

As far as the enviormental impact... the methane gas released into the atmosphere en-masse by cattle grazing, the deforestation caused by cattle ranching, the pollution of ground water due to animal feces in seeping, hormones in the animals from factory farming.

You wanna dance? :bustback:

Bruh like there are literally volumes written on why meat is scientifically not healthy for you, especially in the quantities we eat it here in the West. On the environmental front we need to cut back on that shyt because its fukkin up the whole ecosystem and all that. Like its a school lunch that the government is providing why can't the government use available facts to dictate policy even on school lunches :why:

he's saying that while cutting back on meat may be good, did folks think about kids on free lunch plans who are more worried about actually getting to eat food period

and then he's asking how is eating pizza better for your diet

he's right, but I wouldn't blame this on hyper liberal bullshyt...I'd consider this a logistical issue

T/S why ARE you so aggy though lol

Does that webmd article state or come to a conclusion that not eating meat is better for our health than doing so?

The writer states that there is a correlation between some red meats which are high in saturated fat and heart disease. No argument here from my general personal beliefs regarding some red meats which are high in saturated fat.

The writer also says that there is a study...of studies...that concluded that there is a probable connection between rectal cancer and red meats.

....this does not sufficiently support the claim that a day without elementary children eating meat proteins is good for them.

I just take serious light of baseless movements, especially health movements, and environmental movements being cited without true scrutiny when changing policy or legislation. Its almost as bad as faith based legislation by the conservative movement to me. The whole "most studies show...." or "its scientific general consensus" (science and CONSENSUS cannot coexist) is really fustrating.

There's a probable link between smoking and lung cancer... you realize this is how science works right? They never make blunt statements they just present the facts as they are... they allow the reader to take the facts as they are. Natural Selection and Gravity are still theories. It's probable that the force of Gravity is real. You're harping on semantics :why:

Gravity is a scientific LAW
Natural selection is a theory

There are clearly statistics to support the strong correlation between smoking and lung cancer
There are most likely statistics to support a correlation between reguarly eating some red meats reguarly, and heart disease.

There are not reasonable statistics to support a correlation or cause and effect with eating no meat of any kind one day a week, and heart disease diabetes (especially).

Semantics are very very important when discussing policy or legislative matters.

The problem is the fact that they're removing meat options for lunch in a community where some of the schools have kids that lunch is their first meal of the day...on monday, when good protiens are unspeakably MORE needed for elementary kids than any other age group.

The problem is, they're replacing chicken and beef with (get this) pizza and macaroni...and saying it will lower diabetes :mindblown: ...because of some 'studies'?

replacing proteins with cheese and breads and dairy and pastas????

????????

FOR ELEMENTARY kids???

?

Nah

That some some hyperliberal bullshyt

Not to mention lean protien is much better than pasta and cheese for your diet

5 star thread

They could at least have some almonds or peanut butter sandwiches offered

Exactly...i couldnt believe some of the responses last night...

The thread title comes from stuff going on in where i'm from (ann arbor) and where i am (seattle)

These are like both top five most liberal places in the us, so every day its something

Meatless mondays
No plastic bags in seattle, and a FEE for paperbags
'temporary' bridge tolls
Riots on mayday

It goes on and on...this story and the plastic bag law in seattle just set me off

I can see where Gizzle is coming from...this is pretty stupid (and actually counterproductive) but there are are better examples of hyper liberalism. Give me a few, I will find some.

Plastic bags are 'bad'

so

lets ban them and take away choice, and CHARGE for its alternative

:mindblown:

http://www.seattle.gov/util/groups/public/@spu/@conservation/documents/webcontent/01_016079.pdf

All Seattle retail stores are prohibited from providing customers with single-use plastic carryout (shopping) bags, including those advertised as compostable, biodegradable, photodegradable or similar.

• Retail stores in Seattle may provide customers with any size recyclable paper or reusable carryout bags;

however, stores must charge a minimum of 5 cents for paper carryout bags of 1/8 barrel (882 cubic inches) or larger. As a rule of thumb, these are typical grocery bags with a flat bottom greater than 60 square inches.

• Paper bag charge revenue is retained by stores, which at their discretion may charge for smaller sizes or provide them free. All paper bag charges must be shown on customer receipts.
• Bags to which the 5-cent charge applies must contain at least 40 percent post-consumer recycled fiberand display the minimum recycled content on the outside of the bag. Use of recycled fiber and labeling is encouraged for all sizes of bags.
• Bags of plastic 2.25 mil or thicker are deemed reusable and may be provided free or charged for at the store’s discretion. [I have found ONE STORE that does this]

I explain to people...its NOT about the .05....or even about the lack of plastic bags; I always get paper anyway

its about being forced to go along with this theory and that the 'plastic bags are evil' people got this pushed thru legislation.
