for whatever reason i can never get these 2 and PseudoTV to work :snoop:

what version of xbmc are you using?

im on 12.2,maybe i need an older version

I actually dropped XBMC in favor of Plex. Having the ability to start a movie and one room and finish it in another is convenient. Being able to stream my home library anywhere I have internet is a plus too.

Another up...

But is anybody getting hit with this problem with Plex?

"Video Unavailable" Error On Roku - Page 3 - Roku Streaming Players - Plex Forums

If anybody has had this error and fixed it, let me know.

Play around with the video playback options...if you have never messed with it, it will be set to auto...set it to the lowest setting ( lowest speed and lowest resolution), then if it plays, move it to the next one, etc..
Also check the Bitrate of the video, the higher it is the harder time the roku will have in playing it. I got some blu ray rips from a 0 day site and these things are encoded with a bitrate that is to high for the roku to play. Soon as I got the same movie with a lower bitrate it played just fine.

Anyway, I spent like 500 on my HTPC and I dual boot it with Mavericks 10.9 and Win8

What an investment :blessed:

I even run games on it cuz I added a GTX 650 on it :wow:

All my games are run on 1080p :wow:

It's something else man, it'll stream a 720p TV show for like 40 minutes and then just stop and give me that error.

I have 3 Rokus and it gives me this error on 2 of them. But it's weird because while 1 of them lets the file play for 40 minutes, the other Roku won't even start before it does that, or it'll only get like 2 or 3 minutes and it says "Video Unavailable"

If I didn't have a Chromecast I'd be shyt out of luck as far as watching content on my TVs

I would check all the settings on all the roku's to make sure they are the same...

Check all the firmware version of the roku's

Check the bandwidth to all the roku's...set up some schedulers and QOS stuff on your router if possible...

Just typical troubleshooting stuff

My Rokus have been good to a nikka, but I'm getting annoyed with the issues on it with Plex.

I got my shows to work, (I think) by switching the transcoder setting to Universal. It was on Legacy for a while. I tried watching a movie on it last night after doing this, and it played for a while then it started buffering mid way through. shyt was stupid because it would buffer, then start right back up. Did this for the last few minutes of the movie. So annoying...

Now, I have 2 Chromecasts as well, and after using this Videostream app with it, I might just not really fukk with Plex like that anymore. Great UI, and all that, but I can't deal with it randomly fukking up after it worked for over a year. Another thing that's very weird, and I don't know if it's something in my bedroom causing this, but when I stream Plex in my bedroom, the video always pauses and buffers. Initially I swapped out the Roku that was in there with one from a different room, and same problem. It will stream everything else fine, but when I try Plex for some reason it acts weird as hell in my bedroom. Doesn't do this in the Living Room or the Mancave

So yeah... this Videostream app looks like it'll hold me down for my local files. I tried it with Fargo last night in my bedroom and it worked flawlessly. Not sure if it's something in the walls causing interference in here where the Roku is sitting, but I literally can't stream Plex in here (bedroom) no matter what.

Has anyone ran XBMC with SVP? :ohhh:

Some higher-end displays have a motion compensation feature which provides frame interpolation. This feature adds intermediate frames, shifting moving objects to the half way point between the previous frame and the next, and artificially bumps up framerate. A 23.976fps source becomes 60fps, with all the moving objects in the scene artificially shifted for seamless movement. The result is smoother playback, and it's a mesmerizing effect.

For systems that don't offer this feature by hardware, there is a Windows software project called the SmoothVideo Project.

Might make an easy to follow guide on it if peeps are interested. shyt gives everything that 120hz+ affect even if its just a regular ol TV.
