Plex + Roku is an automatic win in my book. :ahh:

Just wish Plex had *.rar support. A huge part of my library in unavailable to it cause of that. Too lazy to go into everything and unrar.

Try rewinding and fast forwarding. I know that's what caused issues for me. It also really depends on router/signal quality. I had my router running wifi in mixed mode instead of just N.

I just tried it just now. It's working alright. Doesn't take too long to reload the part that I'm on.

But I did just find out the version of Avengers I got is in French and shyt

:bryan:

EDIT: I just checked the Audio Stream, and it was in French, changed to English and it's all good.

:ahh: Plex

How about skipping back like 20 minutes? Forwarding wasn't an issue for me now that I think about it. It was skipping backwards, not slow rewind. They prob fixed something since the last time I used the living room Roku (wireless) :lawd:

After I tested the Avengers, I threw on The Bourne Legacy, and fast forwarded it to about the 20 minute mark. It was fine, now I'm going to try rewinding it back 20 minutes. I had it playing for a while in the background.

I'll let you know if it's acting up.

Avengers did start tweaking, talking about make sure the server is running though. But my PC was still in sleep mode when I was messing around with that file.

I prefer going the server route because I need to access stuff in multiple rooms. And if you go the external route, which device are you using to get them to a HDTV?

Don't need my HTPC looking like a god damn octopus with my 4x3TB and 2x2TB drives, :pachaha:

Not only that but in my case I have 3 rooms / devices that need to get fed the data. I ain't lugging around a gang of externals.

I understand why people do it. but yall selling it like that's the only way

personally I've always been a 'function over form' type of guy. I'd rather see an octopus of wires then deal with streaming issues :manny:

I've never had an external fail on me. I can also count the number of cell phones I've owned on one hand :manny:

but if you have 4 2tb hdd, maybe you do need a server :ld:

Depends on your needs.

How many devices are you streaming to?
Do you plan on having more than 3 drives in the future?
Do you need 24/7 access to your files?
Do you need a back up solution for your archive?
Do you plan on streaming to multiple locations at the same time?

Cheapest solution to me would be server + roku.

I haven't built one but been doing research on it for months , cost wise it really depends on the specs your going for but for little over $600 you can build one like this that does everything

Give the Gift of a Home Theater PC with These Media Center Builds

check out the last one on there "The Ultimate HTPC for Playing, Streaming, and Gaming" , if i had to build anything it would be something similiar to that but am too lazy and think i will fuk it up somehow

1.streaming to 2 rokus
2.i have hella externals already but im gonna start off with 3 internals with whatever I build and add more later
3.yes they are all on externals
4.no dont really need to back anything up
5.yes

And the build doesnt really have to be cheap, I just dont want to waste money when I couldve did something different

Right now im kinda leaning towards doing a pc build that can handle everything
