I've got the SmartThings v2 hub - Smart Home. Intelligent Living.

...Which comes with a couple of open/close sensors, a water leak sensor, a multipurpose sensor, and an outlet - it isnt perfect but it works. Some folks have lots of issues with it, others have no issues with it. Im sort of in the middle.

I also have:

ecobee3 Thermosthat - Smart WiFi Thermostats by ecobee |
Carbon Monoxide/smoke detector - Battery -
Lights - Got some OSRAM LED outside lights and Indoor - LIGHTIFY | Light is OSRAM

Got my outside lights to turn on at sunset and turn off at sunrise. I never have to worry about them. Got my indoor lights to turn on at different scenarios. Like, turn on if i door opens and its dark outside or turn on/off based on motion.

Cameras I got 3 of these - Blink: Home Security Camera System - They are battery powered and wifi.

For my TV - got Logitech Home Hub - Harmony Hub-Smart Home Control-Logitech

That's hooked up to my TV, FireTV, and Reciever.

Also got a Amazon Echo. Which talks to mostly everything connected to my SmartThings and Logitech Hub. I can change the temperature, Turn on/off lights. Tell Harmony hub to "Watch TV" and it'll turn on the necessary devices and set it to the proper inputs, and dim lights if i wanted to all at the same time....all with my voice.

Now it's all still a work in progress and it's convenient in some cases. Just don't have time to make it perfect.

Gonna add a Ring Video Doorbell and maybe some smart locks for my doors.

Sorry if my format is all fukked up.

All this stuff can get expensive, i only buy when they go on sale.

Edit: was trying to add the amazon links but they didnt show up right.
I was looking at the smart things hub to run with my system I have the nest, August door locks and lighting system but last week it came out that the smart things can easily be hacked and people can enter your house. Google it, it was even on good morning America

True, sorry i forgot to mention that. I am a reader of their active forums where their developers come together to create support for devices or "things" and their "smartapp"

Here is what the Founder/CEO of SmartThings had to say about the study. SmartThings Platform Security

To add on to my other post, there are other home automation hubs out there, Insteon, Wink, Vera, Homeseer, etc. It's all about preference and what you want to do. There really is not a clear "best" one out there. I stick with SmartThings because the community is very active and there isn't a monthly fee like some of the other hubs out there. What i don't like is that because it's cloud-based, if hey're having service issues on their end you will have wonky things happen or will lose access to your hub. Some homes run everything locally so you wont have that issue. My work around for that is to just control the device with the app it came with.

So, I had a property manager come by my house here in GA the other day. I'll be renting it out while I'll be deployed. We did small talk and walked around... but the bottom line is, how much can I rent out my house for quickly? Breh says $2,299 :banderas: Brehs, I'll be coping $450 a month off this... I made it :mjcry: I thought i would get at least $150, which is sitll not bad. I wouldn't even be mad if I just broke even because the renters are the paying the mortgage.

I'll be coping a town home when I come back and drop a fat down payment on it... and just do it all over again. But i'll be looking for a town home for around 100k because I want to pay it off asap. I can probably have it paid off in my next rotation too :wow:

I'll be getting the house ready to hand over them to manage the next two months, such as thrwoing shyt away and moving stuff to storage.

i'm not really a slum lord, i just like to call myself one.

I don't deal with my tenants personally, that would be far to much work and time,

If youre credit is in order and you are preapproved for some money, take some time to contact an agent who can send you a listing of short sales in the areas you want to buy in. You never know, you may come up. My wife and i had a 550k 5 bedroom house in our area but by the time we got our feet moving the shyt was GONE! :whew:

Living Room sets... Do I look at Rooms to Go or are they pretty much overpriced, like the Best Buy of furniture?

I'm looking at Leather Sectionals.
