Yeah, I hope they incorporate some sort of pity selection system. You should at least get to choose from the available pot when you get a mercy 4 or 5 star. Either that, or make a way for them to be earned during the story mode.

I’m still trying to understand what being an original IP has to do with its development costs :dahell: those things aren’t related nor mutually exclusive

You can create original IP and have it’s dev costs be $500M
A creative project will always have the risk of lost associated with it.
usually, a game that has no recognizable ip and has new concepts will never get more money than a sequel that has had guaranteed success
new ips always make less money even if it catches on but the sequel will make twice that.
marketing is going to cost equal or more than development so there's hidden cost as well
a publisher knows this and lowers the budget to not financially destroy their own company.
100M budget for a game, mainly mobile at that? that's crazy. A budget like that puts among the likes of actual console titles.

mihoyo knows their market just fine and its not like this came out of nowhere either

I already know this studio has had home runs and that this game is a series sequel but I'm saying in general no one is putting major money into new ip's like that.
the vast majority of people playing this are not linking it to Honkai and even then new IPs aren't inherently limited financially like you're implying

Cuz it is on consoles, fool. The publisher believed in the work and so they went with it. BFD. It's not unfounded to happen. Stop aspiring to be a smart, dumb ninja. No ones perturbed as to why it got the dev costs it got, but you.
