Verstappen pulling a gap even when slowly bringing the tires up to temp. The pace they have in hand probably isn't too far off what we saw in Bahrain 2014. I also get that Perez isn't a championship caliber driver, but I refuse to believe he's this down on pace to Verstappen. For any other team I can get down with them not making a car to suit one driver, but I'm not so convinced here.

It can't be the same car it's clear to see

Never seen such a difference in performance between teammates. Even Stroll who we all know is only a driver because his dad owns the team isn't that bad vs Alonso one of the goats

Verstappen was whipping both Gasly and Albon by much worse in pace.

After that Miami upgrade or whatever, the tides shifted and never quite went back :hubie:

Albon was a veritable rookie when he was in that car and never given the time to develop. I can't speak to Gasly.

True, but there's nothing to suggest they have different cars. This is front-limited track which Perez already sucks at, couple that with a car he's not suited to vs a generational driver at the top of his form, well, this shouldn't be unexpected.

Oh I fully believe the cars are identical. I find it hard to believe that they don't develop in a direction that favors the faster driver, thus making the slower one look even worse. I'm sure Newey's team sets out to make the fastest car they can. But then when you sit down with the drivers and say what tools do you need to to go even faster, if they diverge in opinions, they're obviously going to go with what Max wants. So that deficit will continually be in his favor.
